THREAD:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rock Band, Just Dance and Guitar Hero has downloadable songs that you were able to buy and download when the Wii Shop Channel was up. Back in the day, people would install a small WAD, and then they could get whatever song they wanted for free. Since the Wii Shop Channel closed, this is no longer possible. There is a new way to install song DLC, follow this tutorial to do so.

The process to do this is different from installing a WiiWare or Virtual Console WAD. Instead of installing the WAD to your Wii (which will not work), we will use a tool called wad2bin that will convert the WAD to a format you can install directly on your SD Card. Please follow these instructions carefully and then you can use the DLC. It’s a long process, but it’s fun.

Also, if you are wanting to get DLC working with Rock Band 3, you can also install Rock Band 2 DLC for use with that game.

What you need
Instructions

Section 1: Preparing

1. Get the WADs that you want in the folder these instructions are enclosed in.
a. “Big WADs” contain WADs with all the DLC, but they are large. For Rock Band, these come in multiple parts. If you want to use the big WADs, make sure you have enough storage space on your SD Card.
b. “Split WADs” contain WADs with individual songs. This is good because you can pick and choose what WADs you want to install.
2. Copy xyzzy-mod to the apps folder of your SD Card (and Wii Mod Lite if you don’t have it already).
3. Launch xyzzy-mod from the Homebrew Channel, and run it to dump some keys. These are unique keys that are required in order to use wad2bin.
a. This only needs to be done once, if you want to install more WADs later, you don’t need to run the tool again.

Section 2: Patching IOS
  • If you load your game you want to use DLC with using the Disc Channel, follow the steps in Section 2.1.
  • If you load your game you want to use DLC with using a USB Loader, follow https://wii.guide/cios to install the optimal cIOS if you haven’t already.
Section 2.1: Patching IOS for Use with the Disc Channel

You do not need to do this if you’re using a USB Loader. For each IOS listed here (IOS37, IOS56, and IOS57), if you patched them once you don’t need to patch them again.

1. Launch Wii Mod Lite from the Homebrew Channel.
2. Go to the IOSs menu.
3. Select the IOS corresponding to your game.
a. If you want to use DLC with Rock Band 2, select IOS37.
b. If you want to use DLC with Rock Band 3, Just Dance 2-4 or Guitar Hero, select IOS56.
c. If you want to use DLC with Just Dance 2014-2015, select IOS57.
i. Just Dance 2014-2015 is known to have some strange issues where the DLC doesn’t work. We have managed to get it to work on USB Loaders.
4. Press the A Button.
5. Select Install IOS.
6. Select the revision corresponding to your IOS.
a. If you selected IOS37, select 5663.
b. If you selected IOS56, select 5662.
c. If you selected IOS57, select 5919.
7. Press the A Button twice.
8. Press Right on the +Control Pad.
9. Press Down on the +Control Pad.
10. Press Right on the +Control Pad again.
11. Press the A Button.
12. Select Download IOS from NUS.
13. Wait for it to finish. When it’s done, after a few seconds you will be sent to the previous menu.
a. If you get a screen saying “Exception DSI Occurred!”, try this process again.
14. Exit Wii Mod Lite by pressing the HOME Button.

Section 3: Making the WADs

This section needs to be followed for every time you want to install songs.

1. Insert your SD Card to your computer.
2. Open wad2bin.
3. To the right of “Path to SD root”, select the “...” button and set it to the root of your SD Card.
4. To the right of “Path to keys file”, select the “...” button and select the keys.txt file in the root of your SD Card that xyzzy-mod made.
5. To the right of “Path to cert file”, select the “...” button and select the device.cert file in the root of your SD Card that xyzzy-mod made.
6. Fill in the title ID corresponding to your game.
a. Games
i. Just Dance 2 - 00010000534432
ii. Just Dance 3 - 00010000534A44
iii. Just Dance 4 - 00010000534A58
iv. Just Dance 2014 - 00010000534A4F
v. Just Dance 2015 - 00010000534533
vi. Rock Band 2 - 00010000535A41
vii. Rock Band 3 - 00010000535A42
viii. The Beatles - Rock Band - 0001000052394A
ix. Green Day - Rock Band - 00010000535A41
x. Guitar Hero: World Tour - 00010000535841
xi. Guitar Hero 5 - 00010000535845
xii. Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock - 00010000535849
b. Important
i. If you’re using the USA version of your game, type 45 at the end of the ID.
1. For example, Rock Band 3 would be 00010000535A4245.
ii. If you’re using the Europe version of your game, type 50 at the end of the ID.
1. For example, Rock Band 3 would be 00010000535A4250.
7. Only if using Rock Band 2, select the “Use nullkey” box.
8. Select “add wad” to install one WAD file.
a. Or, select “add folder” to install a folder of WADs.
9. Select “run”.
10. Make sure that it created a folder with .bin files in a subfolder of /private/wii/data/ on your SD Card. The private folder needs to be at the root of your SD Card.
11. Move the WAD file starting with “00010000” and ending with “bogus.wad” to a folder called “wad” in your SD Card.

Section 4 - Finalizing

This section needs to be followed for every time you want to install songs.

1. Launch Wii Mod Lite from the Homebrew Channel.
2. Go to the WAD Manager menu.
3. Select the folder on your SD Card called “wad”.
4. Highlight the WAD file starting with “00010000” and ending with “bogus.wad”.
5. Press the - Button.
6. Press the A Button, and then press it again when it prompts you to.
a. Ignore any errors.
7. Now in the menu where you were before to select WAD files, highlight the same WAD file again.
8. Press the A Button, and then press it again when it prompts you to.
a. Ignore any errors.
9. Load the game you made the DLC for and test it out. (If using Just Dance 2014 or Just Dance 2015 with a USB Loader, make sure you're using cIOS 249 installed with https://wii.guide/cios )

Any luck?

I do not believe cIOS or firmware are causing issues. I do believe 1. removing your Wii RB3 save file must be done. 2. Completely remove (delete) your USB GX (or WFL, USB CFG) settings, must be done. Basically start a new install.

If you beta test, or test in general, like i have done for some years now, it becomes second nature to always remove prior cfg/settings.

I was in the very same situation you are in with the Rock Band DLC. I stress again to remove/delete your game save file, then delete everything from your apps/uabloader_gx folder.

Obviously, back up themes and image art. The only files in apps/usbloader_gx/ folder should be...

boot.dol
icon png
meta.xml

...nothing else

Uninstall, then Reinstall the bogus wads. Launch GX, then start RB3 from GX.

If you still cannot get RB3 to play DLC, please zip and attach your GX 4 beta, so i can test and confirm.

yep i did all of that, just clean everything, new sd card ONLY for the usbloader and dlc, well...deleted save game (from wii system menu) also, deleted game folder inside wii nand. title/00010000/535a4245

i honestly don't know what more to do. game freezes when loading (loading bar + sd icon top right).

next day i Have a spare time, will try on my wiiU, that i have yet to mess with vwii hacking...

thank you anyway. if i ever win the lottery, I will remember you.

Ok. I tested your GX 4.0 Test and it is working correctly for me so we can eliminate that possibility.

When converting the dlc wads everything is console specific but i believe the dummy wads are universal. Your dummy wad is definitely different than any of mine which i believe is RB3-2.wad for the song you have installed.

Try uninstalling your dummy wad then installing my RB3 dummy wads i have attached to see if it is indeed the issue.

The only thing(s) i can think that might be causing the issue are...
1. Rock Band 3.wbfs is a bad dump.
2. The hex code # is not correct, i attached the correct hex code for verification.
3. The dummy wad installed is corrupt.

Also just to verify...you are using USB:/wbfs/Rock Band 3 [SZBE69]/SZBE69.wbfs...correct?

This should be on another thread, maybe i will create one specifically for GH3 mods. Just thought it could be interesting for others who enjoy RB and GH for Wii.

Using TheGhost, i have made 4 GHIII game mods. It is a great tool that takes some learning but works very well.

Problem is, every search tells to use Frets on Fire. While it does provide content, it is not updated for some years now and abandoned for updated content.

I went down the rabbit hole, and if you do, you will find a huge community full of content.

It can be time consuming, some files may need to be converted, but TheGhost works almost 100.

If anyone is interested, or need links for the apps, let me know.

Anyone know the ttid for band hero? its not listed and im trying to install the dlc
im also trying to install the dlc for ghwor but nothing seems to show and im using a disc. both band hero and wor are discs

Hello everyone.
Who has not working DLC:
1. Go to wii shop and download zelda channel. It's a free program and can still be downloaded from the store. It is needed for wii to save the necessary files on the memory card for eShop and dlc. without these files dlc will not work.

2. Check again that you specified the correct TTIDs during installation.
For example as I did: (further USA region)
For GH5 DLC (GH5 TTID) 0001000053584545.
For Band Hero DLC I wrote GHWOR TTID 0001000053584945
For DLC GHWOR (WOR TTID) 0001000053584945
For DLC WTImport (WT TTID not nullkey) 0001000053584145
For WT DLC (WT TTID + nullkey) 0001000053584145
For Smash hits DLC (with GH5 TTID) 0001000053584545

All these DLCs work with GHWOR. in total there will be 710 tracks in the game.

3. In the game GHWT does not work memory cards larger than 2gb!
GH5 and GHWOR understand cards larger than 2gb

4. for GH you need use DLC and TTID like a disc region
for RB you need use DLC and TTID like your CONSOLE region
just curious what you did to have the dlc show up im trying to get it to show on warriors of rock (disc) and i followed how u installed each game but nothing shows up in the games

Which USB Loader are you using?

Have you tried deleting the Wii save files for both GH5 and WOR?

GH wor has around 600 songs, only works with ntsc version,
Use first gh5 import with wad2bin and copy files to correct folder
One gh version import per time
Make sure you have the correct Wii keys from your console
I use yawmm for the bogus file

I come up with 566 total songs for WOR. The WT Import DLC works but not the main WT DLC. In fact, if you install the main WT DLC and install the dummy wad as well, you will lose access to many songs.

I think the WT DLC is a lost cause unless there is trick getting it to work. I have tried a half dozen angels and no dice. The rest of GH dlc all work...

World Tour Import = Use World Tour Code
Smash Hits = Use Guitar Hero 5 Code
Band Hero = Use Guitar Hero 5 Code
Guitar Hero 5 = Use Guitar Hero 5 Code
----------

For dummy.wad installs....

World Tour Import dummy.wad must be installed.

Guitar Hero 5 dummy.wad must be installed.

Both Smash Hits and Band Hero DLC can be seen and played as long as you have the GH5 dummy.wad installed.

wad2bin will create separate dummy wads for both ^^^^^^mentioned above, i would save these....However, i didn't install either wad on the 3 Wii's i have set up recently with DLC, they were not needed. GH5 dummy.wad took care of all 3 (GH5, Band Hero, Smash Hits).

Edit:
About to give up on World Tour DLC and finally figured it out! ;) I have to get a little sleep but will write up text instructions and post here later today.

I went from 566 total songs on WOR to 710 with 16 of those being locked. I'm not sure if those songs are forever locked or if advancing through career mode will unlock them. Either way, very happy the struggle is over.

Thank u for clarifying the install process for gh and what codes you used and thats sick u figured it out cant wait to see ur write up and hopefully figure my problem out lmao.

So i just tried running it all again and still no luck. Nothing seems to want to work for the dlc for gh. I have rock band 3s working so i have no idea what i could be not doing.....This shit is annoying asf lmao

Here is what worked for me to get all DLC through GH Warriors Of Rock working...

Wii Guitar Hero DLC install steps...

This is only tested working through USB loaders,
using the actual disc(s) could work but not tested on my end.

This is tested working on NTSC (North America) original Wii with...
[SXEE52] Guitar Hero 5
[SXIE52] Guitar Hero - Warriors Of Rock

PAL machines and vWii may give different results!

This does not work for World Tour!! DLC will still be corrupted
if attempting to play DLC thorough GH World Tour. Howeverc GH5 &
GH WOR will see the WT DLC and play it as intended.

------------

Before installing any DLC, please delete both
Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero WOR save files from the Wii.

I do not know if the is absolutely necessary
but i think it gives the best chance for success.

You will need both GH5 and GH WOR games installed on USB.
Again, this may not be mandatory, it is possible WOR is the
only game you need installed for all DLC to show up but GH5
was used to bridge the DLC on my setup.

------------

1. On PC, run wad2bin and select your SD root path, then keys path,
then cert file path. Now type Parent TID 0001000053584545. Do not
forget to include the extra 45 for NA or 50 for PAL ^^^^^^^
Now click add wad and select Guitar Hero 5 DLC.wad for wherever
it is located on your PC, click run. When finished, place your
newly created dummy.wad into the "wad" folder and rename to
GH5 DLC.wad. Eject your SD PC and insert into the Wii. Using any
wad manager (I Used YAWM ModMii Edition), first uninstall, then
install the GH5 DLC.wad. Now open your preferred USB Loader ...
(I Used Wiiflow Lite) and boot Guitar Hero 5 for the 1st time.
Let it do it's thing and you should see pop-up it is scanning for
DLC. Now check for and hopefully find GH5 successfully imported
the GH5 DLC.

2. Back to PC, open wad2bin again and follow above procedure for
SD, keys, cert file. Enter Parent TID 0001000053584145. Click
add wad and find and select your Guitar Hero World Tour Import.wad.
Click run & when finished, open SD and rename the new dummy.wad to
GHWT Import DLC.wad and place in the wad folder on root of SD.

3. Staying at your PC, open wad2bin again, repeat necessary steps
and enter Parent TID 0001000053584945. Click add wad, find and
select your Guitar Hero Warriors Of Rock.wad, click run. When
finished, open SD and rename the new dummy.wad to GHWOR DLC.wad
and place in the wad folder on root of SD.

4. Again staying at your PC, open wad2bin, repeat necessary steps
and enter Parent TID 0001000053584545. Click add wad, find and
select your Guitar Hero Smash Hits.wad, click run. When finished,
open SD and rename the new dummy.wad to GHSH DLC.wad and place
in the wad folder on the root of SD.

5. Open wad2bin again, repeat necessary steps and enter Parent TID
0001000053584545. Click add wad, find and select your Guitar Hero
Band Hero.wad, click run. When finished, open SD and rename the new
dummy.wad to GHBH DLC.wad and place in the wad folder on SD.

6. Final step... open wad2bin, repeat necessary steps and enter
Parent TID 0001000053584545. Now CLICK/CHECK THE USE NULLKEY BOX!!!
Click add wad, find and select your Guitar Hero World Tour.wad,
click run. When finished, open SD and rename the new dummy.wad to
GHWT DLC.wad and place in the wad folder on the root of SD.

------------

Eject your SD from PC and insert into the WII. Now open your wad
manager and uninstall then install these wads...

GHWT Import DLC.wad
GHWOR DLC.wad
GHWT DLC.wad

Open your USB Loader and again boot Guitar Hero 5 for the 2nd time.
After scanning for DLC, click Options, then Rock Archive. SD should
show 460 DLC installed. Back out to main screen and select Quickplay
and you should have 552 songs available for GH5.

Now exit GH5 and boot Guitar Hero Warriors Of Rock for the 1st time and
create a profile. At main screen click Options, then Rock Archive...
SD should now show 606 DLC installed. Back out to main screen again and
select Quickplay and you should have 710 songs available with 16 of those
locked.

Very possible vWii is holding you back. I'll pull out my WiiU later and see if it is the culprit. RB3 dlc works for you on vWii?

Ya ive got rb3 dlc up and running on deluxe and reg rb3 its like 700 ish songs
Very cool. I installed RB3 Deluxe a few weeks back and it is outstanding. Unfortunately it locked up on me 3 separate times while trying to exit so i deleted it. I'll have to redownload and patch RB3 if it is working well on vWii.

Are you able to use both RB2 and RB3 DLC through vWii?

If so, with all the DLC, that is enough reason to set up a 32gb SD exclusively for vWii Rock Band.

------------

I did test Guitar Hero DLC on vWii and was unsuccessful. Would be nice if it was compatible but more reason for me to create GH Mods i can play through vWii or the og Wii.

I did test Guitar Hero DLC on vWii and was unsuccessful. Would be nice if it was compatible but more reason for me to create GH Mods i can play through vWii or the og Wii.
rb3d is very unstable its not really worth it tbh. And ive not tried to install 2s dlc it was giving me errors and once i got just the base dlc for rb3 to work i gave up and started guitar hero lmfao

I'll keep it on the back burner then:)

I'm knee deep in GH Mods the past month+. So much content out there, including all GH and RB original rips and the DLC. Not to mention thousands of great rock, metal, punk, alternative customs never released. Crazy i was not aware until recently.:)
