Hi there everyone,

After today’s announcement I realized I wanted to play the game again. When I booted up my game I realized younger me had, unfortunately, deleted my original save and started anew.

This is fine and all, but I wanted to see if there is anyway to get that original save back. Does anyone know of any possibility’s?

NOTE: I modded my 3DS recently and have checkpoint but I deleted the save before I modded it. I have a save file of my current island backed up on checkpoint. Also I own the digital version of the game.

Any help would be appreciated, even if it’s just to crush my dreams of getting it back

If you deleted the save and did not make any backups of it, then it is gone forever.

I suppose you could try using a standard PC undelete utility on your SD card? It depends on whether you heavily used your card since you deleted your original save. The save data should be in Nintendo 3DS/[ID0]/[ID1]/title/00040000/0008C400/data/ , assuming you're using the US version of the game.

I've never heard of someone successfully recovering deleted save data this way before, but then I don't often read about people trying to recover deleted save data either.
