Using N64 Roms from N64 NSO Online

Getting Roms from the extracted Romfs folder from N64 working in other emulators

Disclaimer: I support in no shape or form any way of Piracy.
Get the Game in a legal way.
I only post this as a form of a tutorial.

1. Homebrew your Nintendo Switch Console via the RCM or Modchip solution
2. Get a subscription to "Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack"
3. Download the Emulator Pack you want to use (in this case the NSO N64 Emulator)
4. Start the application at least one time to generate the keys you need to dump with Lockpick_RCM
5. Dump the keys
6. Now there are two ways to extract the Romfs folder
6.1 You can dump the romfs folder directly with NxDumptool (will take a while since its a lot of files)
6.2 You dump the NSO N64 Emulator as .nsp files and extract the romfs via a Switch emulator (I suggest Ryujinx)

7. Locate your Game inside the romfs/titles folder (e.g. Zelda Majoras Mask would be inside the "N-1407_e" folder)
8. Inside there is a file with the ending .bnz which is actually an archive
8.1 I already tested if this file will work if the prefix get changed to .n64. It does NOT.
9. Now you need to get the "Cave Database Manager" made by @DarkAkuma
10. Once you did set up Cave you use Tools --> .bnz --> Unpack .bnz to unpack the archive
11. It will create a .bin file of the selected archive just renaming this file to the prefix .n64 will make it work with a n64-emulator

Congratulations
You can now play the N64 Games in another emulator.

Even though using this rom is possible it will afaik not be possible to patch a mod on it because the checksum validation will return an invalid checksum.
I don´t know if i did something wrong somewhere that caused this or if Nintendo itself applied some sort of patch that messed with the checksum.

If you are aware of a fix for that feel free to post a response to this thread.

but that doesn't preclude people who were banned for doing similar actions.
There aren't any. ALL bans are from installing an nsp, using cheats online (to include hacked/patched save files online), making a "mistake" offline (like installing an nsp) then trying to "Clean" the nand, or a combination of the those reasons. If you never install an nsp, you can even go online with emummc, and it won't be banned. Again, nobody has had a CFW switch longer than SciresM, and he has never been banned.

Dumping games, will not get you banned. I update my OLED firmware online, then dump it myself to get my unclean emummc updated as well, and my OLED is not banned.

False, there have been plenty of bans recorded that did not involve the usage of .NSP files, cheats, or "cleaning" the eMMC. In fact, many of these were reported before cheats or .NSP files were even possible. They are all logged here in this thread for everyone's perusal.

XCI is used interchangeably with .nsp, especially when using online, because there were typically numerous people using the same .xci, and therefore the same cart serial number (more than one person online and using the same serial number at the same time, and both accounts, and that serial number gets flagged). Those and cheats were available from the beginning. I was running CFW under SXOS before Atmosphere was even released to the general public. That thread, and every other thread about bans, is full of people to didn't know what they were doing and don't even remember everything they did. Your very statement of people doing things before cheats were possible, tells me that you don't know what you're talking about either. I stand by my statement, and you can't prove me wrong.

EDIT: I did miss one thing, that your linked thread reminded me of, so I'll give you that one. Layredfs. Using layeredfs while playing an online game would be stupid and likely be flagged by Nintendo as a cheat.

My statement rings true when it concerns .XCI files as you can check yourself that there are people who were banned without using that either. Also, there are notable people who knew what they were doing but were still banned using solely SX OS such as Darth Meteos who was a prominent scene member. You lack any proof that my thread and every other thread about bans is full of people who didn't know what were doing and don't even remember everything they did. I know exactly what I'm talking about unlike yourself. What this sounds to me like is you cannot accept the fact that you are wrong and are being stubborn because I provided proof that refutes your whole argument. I stand by my statement and you can't prove me wrong.

I have a Switch that was banned because I used Checkpoint or the other save game importer to import my save of a Pokémon game that was on another Switch that got banned because of installing an NSP. Not sure how running Checkpoint from the Album button caused the ban (although since I bought it used, it could have had a previous ban flag and it would have been banned even if I didn't use CFW on it). So I bought another v1 Switch that I have using CFW SysNAND for several years now without a ban. Who knows what caused the 2nd Switch to get banned.

So I use my online Switch to download my purchased content so I can then dump it with DBI for backup so I can them play it on my banned Switch.

If purchasing doesn’t imply ownership, piracy doesn’t imply theft
So fucking tired of this useless catchphrase, even more in this case. It doesn't apply to the NSO games because you never, ever purchase them, they're a benefit you get access to when you pay your subscription to play online, same applies to the DLCs, Nintendo Music and other benefits.

You're, at best, renting them, and the language used in marketing doesn't imply otherwise.

So get lost with that shit and try to know what you're talking about before arming yourself with a keyboard.
