If PC viruses were Pokemon, IE was the high end PokeBall that absorbed them at first sight. You didn't even have to do much browsing to accumulate them. I swear our ISP back in the day was infected. I'd connect a clean install to the network and, boom, like I never left.

In my restless dreams, I see Windows 98 with pop-up's bombarding the desktop. You didn't even need IE open to have them appear, once the damage was done.

Luckily, it's 25 years later, so I'm not too worried about it.

I'm pretty sure I have a hard drive or two from those days, but I'm not motivated to connect them to anything. I like to imagine all the Windows 98-era viruses that could be inhabiting them.

It's unlikely that you'll ever come across viruses for Windows 9x in today's age unlike Windows with the NT kernel. With an antivirus and good firewall, you're safe.

Edge is a Chromium fork installed on every Windows installation and you cannot get rid of it. It's classified as a PUP for a reason, installed without your consent, and nobody wants a browser full of spyware and lack of customization features, ads that frequently pop-up every 5 minutes prompting you to download Edge, or the fact that you're using Windows in the first place.

Internet Explorer on the other hand is dead, only a small percentage of users use it for the nostalgia.

Ikr? the more viruses the better, amirite? But i thought that having different kinds too many all at once might start killing or disabling each other, and i didn't want that.. As my goal is having the most infected version preserved in a bottle so to speak so when i install it it'd start wreaking havoc to the point where the OS couldn't do shit, it's like being hit with a tsunami of shit
