However, despite the authors best intentions to create new characters, many were later found to have been in use sometime during China's 3000 years of literary history

One character had even been made up before in order to test a scholar in Tang dynasty timesidk man, they look very Chinese to me![]()

I'm reminded of this video for some reason, it's about Japanese kanji but that's close enough.
