I tried this and it works as long as I don't close Retroarch, if I close and reopen it the sample rate gets changed back to 48000, is this the expected behavior with the current Aroma core or am I missing something else?
Did you do the Core Override save as suggested? If so it should retain the setting then.

That's weird, mine work as intended. Maybe you are not doing it in the right order?

Maybe, how did you manage to get it working?
Here's the steps I followed:

Open Retroarch > load content > settings > audio > output > set audio to AX Pro, set output rate to 44100 > quick menu > core options > manage core options > save content directory options.

After that I quit Retroarch, but when I reopen it output rate is 48000 again.
I also tried loading the PCSX core without loading any game and changing the sample rate, but got the same result.

If I remembered correctly: Loaded the PCSX core without any game > do the settings > load a game > save core override.

I can check again when I get back home. I do believe mine retain its setting, since it doesn't have the stuttering audio issue.

EDIT:
Yup, the settings retain.

navigate your sd card and edit the PCSX cfg file manually. Look for the line called audio_out_rate and change its value to 44000. If there's no such line you could add it in yourself.
The file should have at least the following in it:
audio_driver = "AX Pro"
audio_out_rate = "44000"

You could do exactly the same for the SNES core, except the sample rate value should be 32040.

Unfortunately this didn't work either, it seems like Retroarch ignores that setting no matter what, I added the 2 lines and confirmed that they were saved properly as 44100 but when opening Retroarch it's still 48000.

that's weird...
are you sure you edited the PCSX config file (override) and not the retroarch config file?
it's under retroarch\config\PCSX-ReARMed\PCSX-ReARMed.cfg
also check that those lines aren't duplicated, just in case.

Is it possible to compile the mame2010 core for aroma Retroarch?
From what I've checked in the core repository, it's wiiu compatible... But I don't know if it's meant for tiramisu RA or aroma...

Yeah, that's the path I accessed, the lines were not there so I added them, the only difference being that the file is .opt instead of .cfg.

Well that's why it didn't work. Opt file is the core options; cfg is the core override.
The two lines I gave you go in the cfg core override file.
If you don't have a cfg it means you haven't succesfully made any override at all for the pcsx core.
I guess you can create the file yourself in that path. Just make sure it matches the name of the core, like this: PCSX-ReARMed.cfg.

Yeah, that was the issue, I was going to core options instead of the option literally called OVERRIDES just a few lines below, I could've sworn I read it as overlays, I guess I need new glasses. Thank you for your help @Binturong-Hitam and @september796, got it working properly now.

Hey friends, first post. I was wondering if anyone knew of any cores that are compatible with the Aroma version for the Commodore Amiga? I've realised I was trying Tiramisu cores (PUAE and PUAE2021) in my Aroma and crashing it.. (school boy stuff). Desperate to play Superfrog on my Wii U if anyone can help. Thanks!

Edit: I also seem to be missing the MS DOS core and it isn't in the ZIP I downloaded with the other Aroma cores? That would be handy too.

Hello, just a thing. cannonball (the Outrun port) doesn't work on the Wii U, it freezes if I select the Play Game option inside. I run the game with the same files on 2 PCs and it works, so I don't know what the problem

I asked the same question about P-UAE previously and it's not available just yet but being worked on for Aroma.
Thank you! Fingers crossed it gets ported across one day. Did you have any info about an Aroma compatible MS-DOS core? I didn't have one in my bundle on the pinned reply with the download link. If anyone had a download link just for the Aroma MS-DOS core I'd be really appreciative.

Sorry no idead on Dos.

Thanks for all the efforts getting this working in aroma!

It crashes on me any time I load core though. Is there a workaround for it? Also my gamepad doesn't work until I force power it off and turn it back on. This normal as well and if so, is there a fix for this?

Hey guys BIG announcement time lol

The Aroma Port that has been in limbo for the last year due to the issue with slow Core loading/Rom loading has been fixed thanks to a new Aroma CFW update :D :D :D
This means Retroarch on Aroma is now back on the table! I tried a bunch of the Core's I compiled last year and they seem to run fine and Core swap as they're supposed to. heh :)
This is so promising, my willingness to reboot a fine aroma setup just for retroarch made me mostly just delete retroarch from my Wii U's SD card, this is a finally promising active and fit retirement days for Wii U.
