Not sure if it would be of any help, but there's been a few people working on this game here before. You might be able to find some hints in what they've already done.
Looks like I can't post links to the threads, let me see what happens when I remove the gbatemp part from them.

Thank you!
I've used some of these in the past to compare with my own translations to make sure things are accurate.
But the text, menus and pictures themselves have been a long process to translate so far.

Patch v.0.1 is up for 3ds
Items/Weapons, Quests, Monsters, Prompts, Map Legend/Icons, Skills, Followers, some Tutorials and Some light storyline have been translated.
Not everything is translated and most of the story is still not translated at the moment.
Please let me know of any error, text overlap or issues that occur so I can fix/remedy them while I continue translation.
I tried two type of cia one of them fail to install to 3ds after patching the game the other one give me error that don’t the game don’t match patch file

I tried it on my 3ds and see the issue you're having.
I've been testing with Citra (and it works there), but I'll try to sort it out and fix whatever's happening with 3ds since I'm able to install the base/original (without patch) cia without issues. So it's probably something to do with the file after being edited.

I've sorted out what the problem was.
It seems the extractor and repackaging tool was corrupting the file when I was creating a patched version of the game file.
I have found another tool for extraction and repackaging that I will be using henceforth.
Unfortunately, I lost some of the files and progress I had made and lost about half the files that I'd managed to translated, bringing me down from 234 of 445 translated files to 40/445 files translated (approximately).
The items/weapons, monsters, prompts and quest names should still be translated. What I've primarily lost has been the text from the story, conversations and camp talks. So I'll need to redo everything I've lost.
I'll be posting a working new patch later this evening. Which I have also confirmed on my own device, that works and is installable on 3ds.
I will post again once the new file is up.
New Patch has been released!
It should now work with the 3ds
Currently working on the text from the Prologue and testing as I go.
I'm hoping to have the Prologue fully translated by some point in July.
No set date as I don't have a team and am doing this all solo. But will update if I need to push back my release of the Prologue to another month.
As of last night I spent hours going through the image files and was finally able to find the menus for the party menu and when you're in town, as well as multiple other images with text. I believe that at this point I've found all the images with text that will need to be translated of which there are 83 (some with multiple .bclim files that need translation).
That said, I don't have experience with translating .bclim files and my attempts have resulted in a blank menu screen when I try re-inserting the files. (The game doesn't crash and the party menu works fine, the boxes that usually have text are just blank).
Additionally, I don't speak Japanese. Most of the translations I've done have been using 3 separate translation tools and then heavy editing to make sure it's sensical and fits into the text boxes on screen. So I'm not really able to translate those files accurately because I can't copy/paste the text into another tool to double check for me.
The main reason I know what the menus are and say is through context and comparison with the menu from Unchained Blades Rexx.
Note
If anyone with more experience in this would like to offer assistance, please let me know and I'd gladly love any help.
As for where these files are, I've taken down/written down all their locations for future attempts or learning on my part and if anyone is interested or has the time to assist.
That said. For now, I will continue focusing on the story text, half of which for the Prologue is sitting within Tutorials. But progress is continuing smoothly so far.
Also, while I do know where the Follower interaction conversations are found, it will be my last priority as there are 750 files to translate, and even to me, it's a bit daunting.
A short time ago I finally completed translating all 6104 lines of text that include, but isn't limited to:
Item names, Skill Names, Quests, Quest Descriptions, Monster Names, Monster encyclopedia entries, Skill descriptions Skill Map descriptions, etc...
I will implement this later this week in a new patch.
However, with that said, please keep in mind that as I myself have never finished this game or ever gotten far enough to see all monsters, skills, items, or quest and their descriptions, etc, and so you may come across text that runs off the screen because it's too long.
I'll post a couple examples of what I mean that I fixed in the past with monsters found in the tutorial zone and the Skill Map.
If you ever come across this once the patch is released, please take a clear picture and post it here and let me know and I will fix it as soon as I am able.
If you can't do that, post the words you see that cut off and let me know exactly where it cuts off so I can go and edit it so that it fits into its box.
Hello hello everyone!
I'm here with a pretty significant update, and that is that I have completed the translation of dialogue for the Prologue.
Every item, every monster, every description should be translated to English within the Prologue.
The menu has not yet been translated as I have been unable to do so as of yet without breaking the menu. However, on the parent post of this thread, I have provided 2 screenshots in case people want to know what option is where.
The character's nametags are also not translated at this time as I continue to work to sort out where those are hiding.
This also includes the options for different shops in town, which has also not been translated at this time.
A Patch will be released later today with the Prologue, which has been playtested to verify that it does not crash and there are (hopefully) no more errors at this time. I will post a new update once the Prologue Patch is up.
Please note that none of the Follower conversations have been translated at this time and remain in Japanese.
In the meantime, please enjoy the Prologue of Unchained Blades EXXiV to your heart's content and I hope you all have fun playing~!
Note (Help Wanted)
To anyone who knows Japanese, has more experience with editing images and menus or wants to help in any way. Please don't hesitate to leave a comment or send me a DM if you'd be interested in contributing and I'll get back to you as soon as I am able.
Even chipping in in small ways is deeply helpful and always appreciated.
New update.
I'm most of the way done translating the dialogue in Chapter 1, which in the route select, is the route for Ryuuga.
There's not as much dialogue to translate as the Prologue.
I've also translated every tutorial, including the menus.
That said, the translations are still in documents and haven't been inserted into the game or anything. Currently I'm working on the shopkeeper dialogue and town dialogue of which there's around 85 or so files.
While I don't have to do every file for Chapter 1, I've decided to do it all now to save me time later.
Translation is slow going and I'm translating 10-20 of the files a day since they only include 1-2 lines of text. However, I am taking it slowly and not rushing through it so I don't burn out and can keep going without needing to put it down for a bit to recoup my energy for the project.
I've finished all the tutorials and town dialogues that come up today. That's over 100 files translated in the last 2 days.
The tutorials in the menu aren't complete yet and still have to be completed. But I'm going to call it a day here and continue tomorrow.
For context, this brings me to 205/661 files translated for the game and all the dialogue, prompts or text boxes.
This is excluding Follower conversations at that's a whole other project in and of itself. (700+ files)
Chapter 1 is now nearly fully translated, so I may be able to release it this month.
If all continues well and the testing phase proceeds without any issues, I should be able to release it in the next couple weeks.
I also had to delete all the work I'd done on translating the tutorials and the shop conversation/dialogues for all the chapters because it was crashing the game, causing black screens or missing the continue button entirely. So I clearly messed something up there. So I'll be redoing those.
I will be slowing down my pace after chapter 1 though, because I can feel the burnout coming on since I'm doing so much so fast without giving myself any real breaks.
That said, even if I go down to translating maybe only 2-3 files a day, that's a chapter every month or so, provided unforseen irl events don't keep me away.
For context, the game has 7 chapters. Technically 8 for the post-story dungeon, so that's around 8 months for the full story to be translated alone (shop dialogue and tutorials included in this math).
I finished translating Chapter 1 last evening. From here, I just need to play through Chapter 1 to see all the dialogue to make sure everything it formatted correctly and to fix any sections where the text is too long and runs off the dialogue box or to fix where I forgot to add the line breaks.
I finished playing through Chapter 1 and fixed all the bugs and issues I've come across.
The new patch that includes Chapter 1 and some item description fixes/polishing will be uploaded in a bit.
If you encounter any issues at all, please let me know either here or on the discord.
I will post a new update once the Ch 1 Patch is up.
