Have a Japanese DSi XL that I've changed to English language using hiyaCFW and hiyalang -- however, seems like using this setup adds a good few seconds for the system to boot, etc. Is there any way to improve this boot time, or alternatively, is there a way to safely change the language of NAND to English instead of using a SD NAND?

Using the language patcher worked - with one odd caveat. On boot, the system has a black screen, and only loads the launcher once I press B on this black screen. Would you happen to know if there's a reason why that is?
It's caused by the Unlaunch launcher patches or lack of those (I forget which).
What is the launcher patches setting set to in the Unlaunch page of TWLMenu++ Settings?

From my experience boot times can be impacted by how large your SD card is and how much free space it has. I would not recommend an SD card larger then 4GB if you care a lot about boot times. If you are stuck with a large one then you could use partitioning software to make it 4GB or less.

Depends really how you setup HiyaCFW though. I've got Unlaunch setup to direct boot a copy of Launcher on SD.

That did the trick! I'm curious- mind if I ask what those launcher patches impact? Would this prevent me from installing and using unsigned DSiWare?
Yes, it would. If it indeed does prevent you from doing so, there's always hiyaCFW (which ofc, starts slow depending on how large the SD card is).

Gotcha! Interesting. So would hiya perform better if I got a smaller SD card? I've got a 32GB in there, smallest I've got on hand- would it fare better if I got a 2GB card or something?

Ended up partitioning the SD card as @Apache Thunder suggested and it fares a lot better load time wise. Thanks for all your guys' help! :D

Actually... one small other oddity I've noticed: using HiyaCFW with the launcher set to the US one. The DSi Camera application installed works, but the launcher/home menu doesn't display images and won't load the camera when pressing L or R, instead saying "You cannot save any more photos" Is this something that's fixable? Is it due to the regional mismatch?

(Edit: Installing the US DSi Camera and starting it up seems to have fixed this!)
