recently I've got to know that you can jailbreak a switch and I decided to do it but I have a V2 patched model. Luckily a friend of mine has a V1 switch which is unpatched and he doesn't care about modding his console so he said that he'll let me swap motherboards if it won't make it break. So my question is whether swapping motherboards to get a moddable chip will work?

And also will swapping the memory modules make his accounts stay on his console? Basically with this system:
1. My motherboard.and friends memory module
2. His motherboard and my module
I mostly care about his memory module as I don't want to delete his accounts or saves

the nands are married, so you need to swap them as well. But why not just swap switches instead?

Does this mean that I can't swap the memory modules?

Sorry for making two replies but I miss clicked to post it. The answer to why we won't swap switches is basically that my is in worse condition and I don't want to force anything on my friend

aahh, the housing is in worse condition? Then I understand!

I don't remember 100% if its just to swap, but I know you need to move the shield as well (the big silver back). And no, the modules if you want to move them needs to be hacked if so. And it will be a whole load of mess.

Actually one more question: is there some other method than dumping my friends save files and any other data like screenshots to SD card and than log into his account after I swap the motherboards? The procedure I have in mind is:
1. Take his switch and send everything I can regarding saves for example to a micro sd and do the same with mine
2. Swap the motherboards making my accounts appear on his switch and his accounts on mine
3. Put his micro SD card into his switch and log into his account. The same with mine
4. If I didn't break his switch I'll proceed with jailbreaking my model

That method won't work. The switch will recognize that the sd is for a different switch and won't work. Also you need a hacked switch to dump saves and anything you want.

Best bet is he signs up for nso, backs up his saves to the cloud. Then re-downloads everything on their "new" console

Just get a modchip installed

You can't copy saves to SD without a hacked Switch. You can transfer a user profile with saves locally to another Switch over wifi:
https://www.nintendo.com/sg/support/switch/secondary/transfer.html
https://en-americas-support.nintend...ransfer-user-and-save-data-on-nintendo-switch

It looks like you can transfer a single user account, so you should be able to transfer your user to his Switch then transfer his user to yours without wiping any other data on either Switch.

You should use the option "System Settings" → "Users" → "Transfer Your User Data" and NOT the option "System Settings" → "Data Management" → "Transfer Your Save Data" as that will not move everything.

I must have remembered it wrong then. But I'll do what you described here. Thanks
