It's a state issue and states are working it out.
I’m sorry but I don’t want the state or the federal government telling people what they can and can’t do with or to their own body. The government should be concerned with why they are constantly losing money, overspending on supplies, and other issues that do not involve the lives of the people. Anything more is just government overreach. As someone who wants small government, the government should not be involved in the medical lives of the people.

But it's not their body though. It's about the body inside their body. And if they have the right to kill THAT body.

It's not a baby until around it's time to give birth. Killing babies is a far stretch from allowing them to be made and it's not what they right to abortions is about either. Please stop drinking the proverbial Kool-Aid.

A government's top priority is protecting the lives of the citizens. Without life, there is no freedom.
Do the lives of women with ectopic pregnancies count? Or lives of pregnant women with cancer that are denied chemo because it could cause an abortion? What about other high risk pregnancies, like a raped child too young to safely deliver the baby?

Or when their water breaks extremely early, e.g. 18th week, so the baby have zero chance of survive, but the shitty Texas law denies the abortion and forces the women to wear the inviable fetus as it rots inside her?

Those situations aren't new, republican legislators knew of them before writing their abortions bans, they just don't care about the life of the mother when debating abortion, even in inviable pregnancies. They aren't PRO-LIFE (otherwise, they would give health care to pregnant women and children), they are PRO-LABOUR.

It's worth noting that while we have a general idea of how many abortions are/were performed in previous years, there really isn't is a break down as to percentages of those who needed one, unviable pregnancy, or simply not wanting a child.

Because that was always between the doctor and the patient. So you'll see cringey right wing shit like "millions of babies killed each year" without actually knowing the statistical breakdown of the reasons.

It's also better to just not create another mouth to feed in current year with the climate changing and this country falling. It's also a heck of a lot better to not have to give them up for adoption where the systems really aren't designed for much other than suffering. There are so many reasons to not have such stupid and harmful laws...

Riddle me this. Are you or the government going to take care of children born out of rape or incest? What about the babies of minors who were raped? Should a parent carry through a pregnancy if the fetus is killing them or dead? What about parents whose protection failed and they don’t have the resources to take care of a child? Should these people be forced to carry just because someone like you ignores their reasons to access this healthcare? Or are you suggesting that you will take responsibility? Better yet, are you suggesting more children should be put into the already overwhelmed foster system?

Those are less than 1% of abortions. The other 99% are women who literally just don't want to take responsibility for their actions.

Last time I checked, men are the ones that impregnate women by insemination. So why isn't it 99% of men who literally don't want to take responsibility for their actions? This percent split is already factitious, but the claim that it's the women's fault and not the men is even more absurd.

What's also absurd about this recent "responsibility" point is how the cultists are framing this. Not responsible enough when it comes to sex, but let's take this irresponsible person, and have them raise a child. Imagine thinking this was appropriate punishment for the irresponsible person. They aren't thinking of the child at all, and the child is the one getting punished here.

These cultists are not Pro-Life.

You literally just made that up.
Also, this

So then who is pro life? The ones killing babies?

Speaking of proof:
Infants died at higher rates after abortion bans in the US, research shows

Abortion gets banned and death tolls rises. Fucking hell, we need to vote Blue and get those protections back as soon as possible.
"You don't understand, if you don't let us kill hundreds of thousands of babies in the womb per year then slightly more babies will die after birth!"

Gonna post those statistics?

Maybe shut the fuck up until you back your previous claim.

I did my part and early voted all blue! We are turning the page and not going back! :toot:
As did I. This is my second time voting blue for President, which means yes, I did vote for Dumpster in 2016. Why? Because I didn't know any better. Grew up in a Republican household, and while my parents weren't bad people, their alignment in politics was unfortunately aligned with religion, so up until Obama's presidency, the household was that way too. Father passed before Trump took office (stress-related), and mother passed a few months into it (cancer). I didn't make the switch to blue until around 2019, but by 2018, I was already telling my siblings how much of an idiot Trump was and how much I respected Obama for putting out Obamacare that helped my mother live as long as she did. Think only 1 of my 4 siblings is Democrat too, and he switched before I did. The rest I think are Republican mainly because of religion, but I'm at least grateful they aren't MAGA-aligned. Do I think they'd vote for Trump? I want to say no, but I think they just won't vote at all.

So then who is pro life? The ones killing babies?
Going to ignore my response to your claim about women being irresponsible when it's men not controlling themselves during sex? Women do not have tubes like dolphins that can prevent conception from males. But who is pro-life? According to your stance, it wouldn't be men who are injecting millions of live organisms into a woman's body where only a few ever reach their goal. Hell, not every fetus survives the full 9 months to become a baby even with all the right things are done. So, does that mean your God is not pro-life because he's not allowing 100% of babies to live in such cases?
