Hello! I'm having trouble saving files when using Homebrew. The ones I've tested are Fheroes2 (Homebrew), and when I try to save, I only get an "error creating savefile." I encountered a similar issue when I tested Fallout 2 today; the game starts fine, but I can't create a save file. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?

thank you, nope never tried. just trying to use the regular save functions in the homebrew games.
im sorry, can you clarify if you are trying to access the save data from pc or just saving the progress in game?

If you are trying to access the save data from a different device you need to use JKSV
If you are not able to save progress on your games try updating SIGPATCHES

You mention both homebrew and 'official' games not being able to save.
Are there also games that actually do have working savegames?

Savefiles are stored in a special folder and not with each game.
That folder can get messed up.
Maybe something got messed up with that folder like some data corruption on the SD card.
You could try to make a dump of all savegames with checkpoint or JKSV to see if the data itself can be read?
If those programs start throwing errors then you might be looking at some data corruption.

If you bought this 8TB SD card from SanDisk for a mere $12 on Amazon, then you might have a fake SD card.
Such cards start overwriting existing data after you put too much data on them.

OP is talking about saves for homebrew games. Do homebrew games typically use the normal Switch save system? Or do they store saves within the Switch folder or somewhere else?

normal system, emuled in emunand

Yes, thank you all for suggestions! To clarify: Yes i have zero issues with saving regular games (nsp files started from main menu). Only with so called homebrew games i have had issues.

Anyway, Fallout 2 community edition now suddenly works.
And Fheroes 2 (Heroes of might and magic 2, recreated by community developers) might just only be bugging on Switch.
