DVD formats are different from the files we use externally such as MP4 MKV AVI etc. This may be why your DVDs are not working, perhaps they are in a format that is not ideal for a DVD, the computer can run it through Because of support for video players, remember that DVDs are formats (vobs) that contain information (info and menu files) to access the film's menus and select scenes.

The Wiimc is programmed to read these specific formats, which is the ideal format for a DVD movie.

I've seen videos of this supposedly in action on YouTube.. Though NOT ONE of the posters of those videos have bothered to explain how it to set it up though..

just connect a external DVD after open wiimc to work in port 0 on wii or port 1 on vwii to work

kinda forgot i made this thread anyway i could get it to work the solution is that you ned to run WiiMC off sd card cuz it doesnt support 2 usb drives at same time

WiiMC supports external DVD drives? Does anyone have a list of compatible players?
yes wiimc does support it and i think this is the only player that supports it is even hard to find some documentation that even says that it supports it

I have two Wii consoles that are bootmii as boot2 they play wii and gamecube burned discs just fine but i cant get WiiMC to play any dvd let alone a external dvd player.

Does anyone have a video or something of WiiMC launching a DVD from an external drive? Or even launching a game from an external DVD drive? This is geniunely the first I hear of this

No problem.

Here is what I did: I started Mario Kart Wii from backup DVD-R in an external drive and took a video. Afterwards I converted the result to MPEG-2 and burned it on DVD-RW. Lastly I played the DVD-RW with the external drive on Wii… while taking another video of this.
==========

It is not pretty and compressed down to a reasonable file size (≈4MB), but it shows a Wii playing a video from external drive of the same Wii starting a game from same external drive. :creep:
Okay it's a confusing mess… but… both once :creep:

Sadly USB Loader GX and Wiiflow do not support external dvd drives you have to use U Loader its old as fuck and outdated.

It can. An old loader, called uloader by hermes, can run Wii backups from external (USB) DVD drives. I have a Hitachi LG GP55EX70 that works with it.

It would be nice to be able to do this with Nintendont with GC backups.
