Carroll's lawsuit was funded by billionaire founder of LinkedIn, Reid Hoffman. He is also a major Democratic Party and leftist cause donor. So, technically you're correct the DNC and "government" had nothing to do with it, but a significant source of the DNC's money did. There's nothing legally "wrong" about a major DNC donor bankrolling Carroll's case, but it's probably fair to say the motivations there are a lot more about "getting" Trump, and less about poor Ms. Carroll.

You could also see it as pure speculation investment. Betting against Trump in lawsuits is quite lucrative, and this one wasn't even the most likely he'd lose.

But you're probably right: the lawsuit was probably aimed more at bringing down Trump than justice for Carroll. Quite an easy presumption: he makes it about as literally impossible as he can to remain neutral on him as a person (eg: he's currently threatening republicans who dare to donate to Nikki Haley).

She responded "no objection" to every piece of evidence entered into the record, despite the fact that she was not required to say anything. Appropriate that he's finally found a lawyer as stupid as he is, though now I'm wondering who at the Bar Association is handing out passing grades in exchange for blowjobs.
