Is it safe to use a rom trimmer?

I heard that i have to use a rom trimmer to play nds games on twilight menu without taking up a lot of storage space, but I also heard that doing that damages the roms.

I've been trimming my ROMs for years and very rarely ran into issues as a result and those were super rare cases with very specific ROM dumps. So I would say that from my experience, it's very safe to trim your ROMs

I did the same with my GBA and my NDS ROMs to get everything to fit on a 128GB MicroSD card. I have yet to see a problem with any of the ROMs I've tried after trimming them.

Why on Earth would that matter?

Make a backup copy of your ROM, use the trimmer, see if it works. If it doesn't, delete the trimmed ROM and use your backup. The end.

You don't have to.
If you only need a couple of games on your card: don't.
If your card gets full: do.

I used this quite a lot when I had an OG R4 and it’s 2gb limit. I haven’t had any issues with any games that I remember.

I have a 64gb card i never needed to trim roms, with all the nds/ dsiware library that i have on there (close to ~500 titles combined) its only about half full rn. I did some trimming before using NDSTokyoTrim (mentioned above), i think there are trim settings, just don't trim the nds file too much and you'll be fine.
