You say that but genies are tricky bastards. Given my image editor has three distinct methods of inverting colours ( https://thegimptutorials.com/how-to-invert-colors/ ) I imagine the opposite of wishes has many potentially valid results.
He never said "I wish" so there's nothing to get all errory about.
But the genie will apply the qualifiers when the guy actually does make a wish.

Ages ago a friend was DM'ing one of his first ever RP sessions from a readymade module. He told players "You see an illusion owl bear" (thinking that illusion was parrt of the monster name...)
(My guess would be the module was "Keep on the Borderlands", good times)
