The way I described it to my kids is that the "executive function" part of the brain is a conference room with a long conference table where decisions are made, but while other people's room has a team of somber business types in suits going over at graphs and data and weighing pros and cons and making important decisions, I have a chimpanzee jumping up and down, flinging its crap around and only concerned with the next banana.
