Well hello guys,

first of all i wanna excuse my bad english its not my native language but i try my best.

So i recently bought a Nintendo Switch. Before i did this decision i informed myself what you can and what you cant do with a Nintendo Switch lite. So i read that you can only hack your Switch Lite with a Modchip which coasts about 100€.

So i asked myself is there no Software only version to hack your switch lite or to get at least Homebrew on your switch lite?

Im appreciating any answers i get and have a nice day :)

Thanks for the quick answer.

Hmm is there at least a not so expensive alternative for mod chips?
100€ is on the high side. Check aliexpress to see if you can find it for around 72€.

When the hacking scene discover the ability to hack the switch from the hardware exploit, they stopped researching the softmod capability entirely. Furthermore, Nintendo brings up updates to the firmware every now and then, and users are forced to update when connected to the internet. Which making it difficult to maintain lower firmware for modders to dig into it and try to find software exploit.

100% agree with first point. That’s mostly it IMO. Why bother. We have what we wanted. Keep the good hax to yourself. For later…

It’s fairly easy to avoid updates. There are quite a few hangers on though…hoping that one day a new exploit will be revealed.

Until then…

I know this is nitpicky but the hacking scene didn't completely stop looking for software exploits - SciresM who made Atmosphere in the first place has spent 500+ hours searching for one on Mariko but he couldn't find anything and believes a non-hardware exploit is not going to happen because Nintendo's security is really tight.

ok i agree, furthermore, the more firmware releases, the tighter it get i presume?

Until now, I didn't find any way to hack NS without hardware. The cheapest modchip maybe RP2040, a raspberry pi pico chip.

You informed yourself and you still bought a Switch Lite.
Should've bought an unpatched OG unit instead.
As they say, everything gets hacked eventually, but at this point it doesn't seem likely to happen any time soon. The Switch 2 (or whatever they decide to call the next console) will probably be out long before then.

Quite the contrary, in fact they rejected hardmodding entirely for a good while because you needed to buy TX' modchip and they didn't want to support TX, they intended to wait for an open source modchip. All the while, they were decrypting and (unsuccessfully) searching through the firmware files to look for exploits. It wasn't until much later on they changed their stance on that and started working on Mariko support for Atmosphere.

Well, my only idea in mind is a possible future hack, most likely involving around safe mode and/or recovery mode. We use or formerly used recovery mode/safe mode for hacking many different systems. I myself do not know how to edit code, RAM, or anything of that nature.

Why did you necro-bump this thread? Your last sentence says your "idea" is useless, not to mention baseless.

Today, however, there would be a new answer to the cheap modchip, as the pico thread is pretty solid and tested by many people on all the different models. The things you need to mod a switch are less than $10 now (not including the tools to do it), if you get the parts from aliexpress.

Looking into this thread here, I think it would be great to have a software solution like how it was done with 3DS modding, even with the tougher or more complex challenges faced with the switch (the community here finds a way, they always do). I for one do not plan on using a mod chip at all.

Then plan on not running homebrew or CFW. It has been stated over and over a software exploit will not happen.

While i agree with the statement that the only solution is modchip for the time being.

There is in fact exploits that are not public, and they will probably never be released.
Why burn these exploits before you know if they work on new hardware.

It’s like in the PS4/PS5 scene, there is
”jailbreaks” for most of the firmwares, just not public.

With that said, a pure software based hack will not be released before the new switch and before the old switch reaches EOL.

Even then it might not happen, we are talking years from now. So dont get your hopes up.

If you want to mod your switch, use a modchip today.

And your opinion on the subject does not mean a shit to the devs. They dont own you anything, if they want to keep it secret it is up to them.
Find a exploit yourself, then you have the option to release it or not.
Dont beg someone else for it or harrass them for it.
