Computer may have failed permanently

Fan doesn’t spin, replaced fan, still doesn’t spin. Can't afford new computer, so I can't do anything for a while.

What's the last thing you did with it? any random crash could be a sign of something else failing..

no black screen, but I can't compile anything until it's fixed. I'm typing on it right now. I'm using a laptop cooler to cool it down. it's a bit chilly everywhere but one area, where it's somewhat warm, not much though. I just don't want to do anything that's cpu intensive. I need to take it somewhere to be diagnosed. it's believed to be a power or motherboard issue at this point. it's an inspiron 17 7706 2-in-1 iirc. btw, I heard that m2 ssds are only in apples, but I have one in my pc. I don't get it.

Yea, i wouldn't recommend using it without a working fan, like at all. So the mobo doesn't have another fan connector port?

I would double check the fan connector and make sure that it’s freely moving, also make sure none of the vents are blocked (these have given me issues).

Not sure what you mean about M.2, they’re pretty normal to find, my laptop even promotes having a second M.2 slot for adding an additional SSD.

I heard m.2 is only for apple Mac, which I don't understand. I have a 1tb m.2 in my laptop.

This is wrong, it’s a common connector to find on laptops/desktops, ultra-portables like the Steam Deck, games consoles like the PS5 and Series S/X (internally), etc:

Chances are the Wifi/BT module in your laptop is also using M.2.

I figured as much considering the laptop with the problem is using an m2, and it's windows. I got all this info from best buy. I replaced the fan myself, so they suggested power as the problem. Apparently, they can't diagnose the problem unless I had bought the Dell from them. What a load of shit.

Either the fan doesn't work or the connector isn't supply power to power on the fan, tends to be a problem with Dell Inspiron. Try buying another of the same part # fan from a different seller if it is possible for you.

No it is not, it is probably non working connector, not supplying voltage to the fan or the fan is no good, probably there is something wrong with component on the board, maybe something blow out.

If he has another laptop (or desktop pc), maybe he could test the fan on a similar connector port..

ok, you can feed your fan with other power source with same voltage, e.g. if it is 12v, then use jumpwire from any 12v source to the fan and then plug the black wire to another black wire. If it has 3 wires, then it has speed controller, you may ignore the third wire and the fan should run full speed all of the time (the noise sucks, but it will work).

My mother jokingly suggested a youfundme account, but I don't want any money from anyone. However, I'm going to quit the scenes, because I'll be useless. I already planned to with the ps5/switch, but I was compiling things for the ps5, which made me feel relevant. Compiling feels like the only purpose to me being in the scenes at this point. There are a lot of people with more knowledge than I have, so it's not like I can't be replaced. I don't want to quit though, but I don't know what to do at this point.
