I'm on a Mac
It's to avoid my laptop to stay unlocked if a thief randomly grabs it and run. It's insured for this particular situation, so I'm not concerned about the laptop itself. You could just do it manually as well. When you walk away it's as simple as pressing the windows key and the letter L. Sure you have to sign back in every time but a small price to pay for the piece of mind you desire.
In that case you may want to look into setting a bios startup/firmware password so the laptop is unable to boot without this password.I'm on a Mac

Don't leave it unlocked when you're not actively watching it? I doubt a thief would grab it from right in front of you.I'm on a Mac
