i am readig alternatively on my switch and moble. Mobile has all tips translated (it has main 8 arcs and few side arcs fully translated) but switch version is better dubbed and screen looks good.

Sorry, I do not fully know differences between different versions. You can google Higurashi android apk and find the version I am playing. It is strictly 4 question arc, 4 answer arcs and then extra arcs, in separate files. I found all TIPS translated for Question and Answer arcs, that were untranslated in the Switch translation patch. Also scenes seem to be cut in Switch version, like

. Switch version jumps to Keichi. I read in Hou review that the cuts were intentional, so we miss few scenes on Switch

just wanted to ask if I could use this version to basically read all of higurashi?
like could i consider this 100% translated (even if some parts are ML and not official translation yet) so that i can play through from start to finish?
i really like the Switch version and i dont want to bother with the stupid fragmented steam releases.....

because imo this would be the definitive way to read the story just like the switch version of umineko is the definitive way to read umineko now

Not yet. Only Hirukowashi is not translated at all and I plan to import translation from 07th mod somewhere in December.

And I wouldn't call Higurashi on Switch definitive due to censorship.

would you say that the steam versions are definitive tho? i find it quite annoying that u dont have an all-in-one game with all chapters and have to switch all the time....

No. Even with 07th mod it still doesn't include all content out there.

In some cases - yeah. Mainly they censored child abuse topics. Which is a main part of story for two chapters.

PC release has uncensored story as author wanted. Switch has "experience" because of how game is curiously designed on consoles to move you around chapters in different way (which is not liked by fans of OG release)

So it depends if you care more about story or about experience.

Released new update which finally translated Hirukowashi which means that all arcs are now translated.
Saikoroshi translation was changed from fantranslation to official, Batsukoishi translation from machine translation to official.
Still some parts are machine translated, some tips are untranslated and Oyashiro Shock is untranslated.

I can't figure out how to move forward. I just finished Tatarigoroshi-hen and wanted to continue reading Himatsubushi but it is not unlocked on the selection screen (it says ???).

Is there a guide that tells me how I can read everything in order?

In order? You mean original order? You can't without having 100% save.

You must finish all 6 stories in first book and Epilogue to get access to next book where is Himatsubushi.
Plus you must go through every possible choice in Common Route to not get stuck in later chapters.

Well, this chart is for Higurashi on PC with 07th mod. You cannot skip chapters on Switch.
And for first timer it can get confusing.

For first book there is no uphold order in which you must read chapters. After finishing Onikakushi you have free access to next 5 ones (2 main ones, three console exclusives), you can unlock in settings to show which choice leads to which chapter.
Die hard fans would recommend to read first all 8 main chapters and then console exclusive chapters, but you can't do that on Switch without 100% save, only on PC with 07th mod.

I don't. I have tackled Hou because I didn't play Higurashi at all and was doing this mod while playing game myself. Since I finished almost all chapters that are already included with Origin, I have no incentive to touch that.
