Which games to buy?

okay so lets see now...

Xbox 360:
- Dragon Age Origins + Dragon Age Origins Awakening [i've been thinking about getting a new RPG . seeing as Dragon Age Origins pricing went down, i thought it was a great idea to buy the game now. i put down the thought of getting it before, but now i gave it a second thought and watched some gameplay then wanted to get it. has anyone gotten this game? is it worth it?]

- Mass Effect then Mass Effect 2 [another RPG . same developers for Dragon Age Origins. same reasons for Dragon Age too]

- Fable then Fable: The Lost Chapters then Fable II then III [another RPG . do i need to play the old xbox ones to understand the xbox 360 ones? i honestly don't feel like searching for them... it sounds like work but i am sure i can get em some how.]

- Halo Reach [should i...? i played Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 and ODST. but i wasn't much of a good Halo online player, and i that's probably one of the most uses parts of the game for me.]

- Call of Duty: Black Ops [i am feeling this more than Halo Reach . just cause i am more of an FPS player... and it is easier than Halo IMO xD]

- Blacklight: Tango Down + Castle Crashers [XBLA games. end of story]

Nintendo DS:
- Pokemon Soul Silver [hmm... i still haven't bought it yet . i am thinking whether or not i should get it still?]

- Final Fantasy IV [searching for it still....]

okay so that's it . i was watching Dragon Age Origins gameplay and it reminded me of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic . now that's a game i really enjoyed playing though i never played the 2nd one xD.

Comments

I still think Mass Effect is crap...
The story is boring, the gameplay is incredibly easy (not to mention there isn't much of it), and you're basically just doing conversations or traveling the entire game. I spent $11 renting it, and felt let down.
The second is supposed to be more gameplay oriented...so I dunno about it.

Dragon Age origins is around the same thing, but I actually enjoyed the story. It was fun to talk to be how I wanted. The game is pretty much gear based, which is funny because there isn't actually a huge amount of gear.
The leveling system also kind of lacks content unless you plan on playing a mage. Mages get tons of skills to grab for levelups. But the others don't really have squat to get after like level 15, if that.
The combat is also pretty simple. The amount of AI options for your teammates is pretty insane though, and really fun to play with. Again, unless you're a mage...combat probably wont be interesting. I pretty much just turned on a bunch of skills that constantly work while turned on, and destroyed everything in my path because they were insanely OP put together.

Get Fable: the lost chapters DEFINITELY.
I love that game. I've played through it quite a few damn times. It was kind of disappointing near end game how much the content kind of cuts off, but it was still really fun to collect every legendary weapon, and other stuff.
Fable 2 was decent, but I wish i'd only rented it. The game has a SEVERE lack of content.
I'm iffy on Fable 3, thanks to Fable 2...but it still looks pretty fun. I'll be getting it day one...but I really hope it does well this time.

Halo Reach is looking to be an insanely good game. I'm hoping the campaign is fun. It sure looks that way right now. The Forge is INSANE now. If you haven't watched the ViDoc on it, do it. It's just nuts how much they've improved it. I'd almost buy the game just for forge.
The biggest factor though would probably be "Do you have friends who will be playing Halo Reach?" because it really adds to the experience if you have buddies to mess around with.

No comment on CoD. I hate the entire series because it's a noobfest.

Castle Crashers is fun. But it does have a pretty stunted amount of content.
Play it if you can get at least one buddy to play with. The game is infinitely better in co op.

Get soul silver if you like Pokemon >_> I got bored with it after the 4th or so gym though...I always give pokemans a chance but get bored early on.

Out of the games that are out already and you listed, I'd recommend Blacklight: Tango Down and Castle Crashers, as I've played those and they are great.

I'm getting Halo: Reach as well as Call of Duty: Black Ops (I'm looking forward to Black Ops more though), so I'd obviously recommend those.

As for Dragon Age, it's a really slow RPG, but it's a good one.

And of course, SoulSilver. I've been replaying it again (Mainly since I sold my actual copy and forgot to back up the save), and I've been enjoying it more than when I had it when it came out.

so i guess it's like this .
Mass Effect = Dragon Age Origins xD. both are based in different times with different technology right?
so that might be put down, again -_-.

but seeing that reaction for Fable, i might get it now :D .
i wanted to get it before, but i wasn't allowed cause my parents would always say no when i wanted to get a game.

i watched the ViDoc and i was like, oh my gawsh O_O . my friend would literally LOVE forge since all he did was make a map in Forge everytime in Halo 3. he wasn't an online player, but enjoyed making maps then letting us play on em. so maybe now it might just get even better for him :D . and yesh, i have a few bunch of friends who are getting Halo Reach . i wasn't part of that, but ever since i watched Forge, i really wanna play Halo Reach at release date and see what people are gonna be pulling ;P

CoD, eh it's alright . i am getting it xD. Castle Crashers, my friends are planning on getting it as a group, so we can play it together. and thanks ^_^.

Just saying you should really try to find kotor 2.it is still on my top game list:)

I'm not sure about Black Ops myself, the new scenario seems promising to me but Modern Warfare 2's online was a HUGE disappointment to me so I say skip this one and wait later for word on any bullshit that might be going on i.e. the dual Model 1887 incident. If the online is better then I'd say it's a keeper.
Halo Reach is shaping up to be so, so much better than the old Halo games. Probably a higher skill level than Halo though.
The two XBLA games you listed are awesome and I seriously recommend them, Castle Crashers is a blast.
About the DS games, SoulSilver is awesome in my humble opinion.

SW: KotOR 2 eh... okay, i will put that on my to search list :D.
but umm... Is it required for me to beat the 1st one then play the 2nd one? i still haven't beaten the 1st one -_-.

@Advice Fox - Black Ops will probably have some sort of abusive part to it like in MW2 [ie. Akimbo Models 1887, Spas-12 Range]. BUT, even with those things, I would say that those things are what make a game fun . those super abusive things are just so fun to use... and i am reading some people saying oh, they should fix the snipers since how are you suppose to quickscope with that kind of scope... well, just shut up man . snipers were never designed that way, they were designed to be scoped in then to aim.

as for Halo Reach, did you play the beta? i played the beta and it was more fun than Halo 3 IMO since well, it was easier xD. for me though...

kk, i will save up some money to buy 4000MS points [i want something for my avatar :3]

Get Fable II. My favorite RPG on the 360 (I couldn't get into the big ones like Mass Effect and Fallout 3). For $20 you get the game + all the DLC. Oh yeah, get Reach, its gonna be sweet. Get Black Ops too, thats gonna be sweet too

I recommend both of the DS games listed. I've never play the original Silver so that why I got SoulSiver. FFIV is pretty good to.

WHAT!? Fable II has all the DLCs? iunno if my local gamestore even has it... must be a platinum hits edition...

kk, i think i am settled to getting Fable . i already had the plan of getting it before, but I just want to play it to know if I am gonna be getting Fable III.

Dragon Age Origins was good from what one of my friends said and bad from what another said. It depends on what you're into in terms of RPGs. I think some people expected it to be "dark ages themed Mass Effect" but it's not at all.

Mass Effect as a series is a must-buy. The first one is buggy has issues but the story is fantastic, the characters are deep, and the RPG aspects are great. The second one fixes the bugs and issues but doesn't have nearly as deep RPG aspects as the first one. Both are still amazing games though. And the DLC for ME2 is supposed to be great.

I didn't really get into Fable II when I got it. It felt terribly linear for a game that was said to be incredibly open. Fallout 3 or Oblivion are much more open. Even a game like Crackdown felt more open. That being said it's not bad as a Zelda-type game that's actually an ARPG.

Halo: Reach looks meh. If you like CoD and/or Halo then you'll probably like Reach but it won't (warning, pun incoming) reach out to those who aren't fond of the type of game.

Black Ops is about the same as Reach in terms of my comments.

Blacklight: Tango Down is basically a cheaper CoD multiplayer. Problem with multiplayer-only XBLA games is that they quickly lose their player base. Cell Factor: The PK Wars was an awesome XBLA game that was multiplayer based but it has no players now. It's still fun with friends though.

Castle Crashers is pretty good, I'd recommend it. Only major problem is that it gets very hard to follow the action with 4 people on board. You'll lose track of your character a lot. But with two people it's absolutely prime.

But those are far from the best XBLA games. If you want a good library, get Shadow Complex (excellent Metroidvania game), Perfect Dark (a remake that's better than the original, and the original is, in my book, a better shooter than Goldeneye), and Puzzle Quest (addictive as hell and it feels nice on the big screen) at least. There's plenty more out there too.

Really games I would recommend are Fallout 3, Oblivion (it's one of the few single player games you can easily sink hundreds of hours into), Mass Effect (both of them), and The Orange Box (a must-have for any Xbox gamer).

If you needed some reviews to help...

Perfect Dark review
Mass Effect review
The Orange Box review
Shadow Complex review
Castle Crashers review

For the DS sector, I'd go with Pokemon. Final Fantasy IV on the DS is inferior to the GBA version in my opinion.

The Mass Effect games for sure. The first Mass Effect is on Xbox Live for like $30 which is about what it goes for new at the store right now. Added bonus is you don't need a disc ;)

Just picked up Castlevania: Harmony of Despair and Limbo from XBLA. Both games are addicting as hell, definitely recommend them.

i put down getting Dragon Age Origins. i looked at gameplay for a ... 3rd time and then noticed it reminded me of SW: KotOR so i am just gonna search for the 2nd SW: KotOR. As for Mass Effect, my friend recommended me this game, and told me it was a must get . i might just borrow/rent it first then think about buying the 2nd .

Fallout 3 and Oblivion are like nyeh for me . iunno, the graphics + gameplay don't really look that great and might bore me ... Shadow Comlpex looks pretty good actually ^^. Perfect Dark... eh maybe, maybe not and Puzzle Quest is a no way for me x]. The Orange Box will stick to PC :P. i will just save up and look for it ... Blacklight: Tango Down i might not get ... since multiplayer base might disappear...

XBLA , the ones Old8oy recommended , aren't those the summer release ones? i will think about Limbo, but Castlevania, nyeh, no thanks since i prefer it on a handheld... Oh but Castlevania Lords of Shadow looked fun! though people say it is a GoW copy, i don't care... it just looks really nice . has anyone tried Geometry Wars [both of me]. that game looked fun on Youtube so i might consider getting the 1st and 2nd.

Gamelist:
- Mass Effect [first i'll try 1 then get 2]
- Fable Series [searching for Fable and my friend is selling me Fable II for $20. his is a new copy anyway... never played on. if i like it, i will think about Fable III or wait for the price of it to drop]
- Halo Reach [to play with friends and for online]
- CoD: Black Ops [same reason as Halo Reach]
- about... 3600 MS Points [Shadow Complex = 1200 . Castle Crashers = 1200 . Geometry Wars Evolved 2 = 800. Geometry Wars Evolved = 400 ]
