Pokemon Is Becoming Final Fantasy, (Not A Good Thing)

I've noticed that Pokemon is becoming a horrible game, I basically had to force myself to play Sun/Ultra just to collect and breed my old ones to get the generation + symbol, I noticed that I barely finished Sun and just got all the Pokemon through tgs and bred all of them then abruptly stopped. I did finish Ultra but that one is just as bad.I don't know what it is but they're messing up the formula.

It's very reminiscent of the Final Fantasy series to me. Once Final Fantasy 9 was done the games were no longer the same, sure FF10 is a lot of people's favorite because of the cinematic style and full voice acting and emotions but as soon as that was done Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire took over as the king of rpgs. Again FFX changed the formula and it's been for the worse and has never recovered. To me i see Pokemon is headed down that path.

maybe it's an oversimplification of things that's ruining it maybe it's something else, too much hand holding, too many tutorials, too many forced mini games that aren't fun. Did anyone notice that it takes nearly three hours to reach the first Pokemon center? It takes 3 hrs to get two badges in Pokemon silver... Maybe it's the 3d style or the narrow walking paths, the easy battle system etc. IDK what it is but it's getting worse. Pokemon Sun holds your hand through the entire game and after game.

on to Pokemon Switch rumors, I believe there was a quote that said they don't want to go back to the old style of up and down and wanted to do the 3d style which is fine but integrating it with Pokemon go? that sounds like a disaster, ride Pokemon was friggen annoying too. Just give me my damn bike and skates or sneak mechanic and my item finder, I don't want to ride on a stupid Taurus or Lillipup, I don't mind them getting rid of of hm but they made it worse and far more annoying.. And for the catching mechanic they're gonna add a Pokemon go flicking mini game to it which spells disaster, either it's gonna be too easy or too hard. If anyone remembers the original red/blue you were lucky to catch mewtwo with less than 99 ultraballs and he was paralyzed and sleep... in Pokemon at with full powers capture you could catch meet so with a premiere ball in the first throw... Why hold your hands so much of the game is gonna be easy af, I know for a fact i didn't have to use a single potion or heal item in the sun moon series

They're are also rumors of the battle system turning into a paper rock scissors type mini game. Again this is comparable to Final Fantasy that all complicated strategy gets lost for more simple better looking animations. In FF15 all I did was good down the warp button and everything for smashed to bits, it wasn't even a challenge, I suspect the same for Pokemon too.

Hopefully when we get our hands on it the older players will be happy with it, and if not... Hopefully Square Enix can take back the mantle of making the most enjoyable rpgs with the release of Octopath Travel or coming out July 13.

perhaps you've grown up. If you look back the R/B/Y story you are a goddamn 11 year old boy whose mom is worried about leaving town.

I do like pokemon, but the older game was simpler. Now has way more elements, thus, cluttered, so I think they started focusing on the battle aspects. So story isn't important anymore? I wouldn't know

edit: also, if the pokemon go integration aspects become a failure, they will use the old formula to get public back. Like they did with black / white.

I'm speed running heart gold and have my 4th gym badge and it's like 2 hours. To me the sun and moon games were designed to be slow like airports are deisgned to make you spend money after you get your baggage checked. My big problem is actually it's playability without trading between players. The older games you could trade pokemon and get one of an equal level to progress. Like Onix vs falkner or machop vs witney. Now it's like "here's my level 5 magikarp " here's a level 2 ratatta or a level 100 shiny lugia. The progression ingame is signifacantly altered and makes the value in game feel less. (Exp share for all just adds to why the game is so slow~ ) Like it's bad enough taking 3 hours to a pokemon center, but if you had to level pokemon individually on top of that it takes even longer. And it takes away the challange of leveling things like abra or a bagon you can find very early in game. Not earning badges/ no hm's The trials didn't feel like progression to me. I'll stick to playing x and y and omega ruby and alpha saphire tell the whole hm's and gyms come back.

p.s remember the magikarp bought for 500 poke dollars by cerulean cave. You worked hard as hell leveling that karp to 20 in that cave so you could destroy gary. Or hunting for the dugtrio. That's what sun and moon lacks most to me.

Agree that sumo wasn't very fun, but neither was xy

They are dumbing down the games too much

They are trying to take the series in a new direction, but it's just not working out. It's almost as lifeless as Disney's star wars

Eh FF's still have plenty of good games after 9. 10 10-2 12 13-2 are ones i like a lot.

But i agree about pokemon games. They're just too repetitive. They need more side quests, more diversity and more legendaries unlockable IN game instead of from promotions. I started UsUm and i liked it but i never even finished it.

LOL greninja_youngboy, Brock is a perv but he's hilarious. Mt.Moon is the first real test

I played sun and got bored with it, haven't picked it up in ages. I liked ultra sun but still not enough to finish it. Surprisingly though, I liked X and Y. I didn't particularly like ORAS. I think this is because of the whole "journey" aspect being taken away from the games. I loved every game pre gen 6 because it was mainly all you who did the journeying, and the after games were filled with adventure. It took a while to be able to go around, see everything, and catch every legendary. Now, it just feels like the adventure aspect is gone and your hand is constantly being held. You're being followed around by one character or another and the journey isn't really your own anymore. Legendary Pokemon are either gifted to you or right in front of you, there's not really much exploration anymore.

Pokemon Moon / Sun / U Moon / U Sun are not bad games.
They are a little borring, but not bad at all comparing to some old MMOrpg.

Tuto are not fun, ok, but you can imagine that some young children need those.

In fact the begening is fu***** slow but after that you can fully enjoy the game.

Everything can not be funny ?

How old are you ? are you working ? Is your boss always cool with you ?
This is just like in real life.

But after 3H of sh** in S/M you can rush the game without difficulty while in real life it can take much more longer :rofl2:

I'm hoping and assuming for now that you'll still have to whittle Pokemon HP/status down through combat before attempting capture. The only difference being motion control/touch screen adding some bonus capture rate with various throws.

Even as a kid I understood red/blue no problems, Kids nowadays... But Pokemon Lets GO pikachu/eevee will definitely succeed big, but if it's not satisfactory to those loyal fans (Not me) I think it can go down a route that isn't favorable. Pokemon GO dramatically died down and trying to revive it with the switch could leave a giant divide.

I'm a big fan of fancy rpg games, most noticeably Squaresoft, yes squaresoft, when they merged with enix something got lost. The introduction of the ps3 really ruined squareenix, I saw a video that it was mainly due to using a garbage engine, but I disagree with the engine theory, SE tried going down a hybrid Kingdom Hearts route and it didn't work, Tomb Raider played just fine, same with hitman, Batman was good. I know SE didn't develop them and just published but SE was trying to follow that path instead of the standard turn based rpg.

I'm excited for Pokemon but going by the rumors, I'm starting to get skeptical of its gonna be any good. As an adult I usually buy the two pack and save $5 but depending on what we see this month i might just go with one

Yeah I seriously doubt it matters how much Pokemon Go has improved unless it's a different game entirely. They missed the mark on battles, capturing, diversity and spread in rural/natural locations, gyms, pretty much everything. I suppose it was always meant to be more of a half-assed tie-in to mainline Pokemon games, but transferring Go Pokemon over feels like it'd be a step too far. Hopefully it's only possible to transfer from Switch to Go, and earn bonuses by walking with your Pokemon, aka like the Pikapedometer back in the day.

Xzi, I was kinda hoping the graphics would be awesome but if those leaks are real The blurry picture of the riding lapras and eevee look like sun/moon...

Eh, I didn't expect drastically improved overworld graphics, and that's clearly a shitty picture so it's hard to tell the actual quality from that alone.

Zxi,idk going back to the pokken leaks you could already tell it looked amazing

BlazikenLucario.jpg

True, but even that picture isn't as blurry (I couldn't tell that was an Eevee at first) and there's only one vantage point you can really see Pokken from anyway. We haven't seen what the Switch games look like in combat or in cities or the online hub world, etc and so forth. Even the location of the supposed leaked shot is bad, in the middle of water with nothing much to see.

Yea but even if the graphics are awesome it's going in the direction that final fantasy went. Sure the people will always buy but never be satisfied.

I guess? FF moved away from turn-based and that seemed to be much of what people didn't like, but I doubt Pokemon will shift from turn-based. I just hope they don't add a ton of needless exposition and give you tutorials for half the game like they did in Sun/Moon. If they stick to most original aspects of Yellow instead, it should be solid at the least.
