Okaysolike, an update on that whole GPU-not-working issue... somebody decided to buy me a new case and motherboard, and HSF (since the one I was using was custom for that case) if I'd buy the RAM (since the new motherboard takes DDR3) and swap parts from my current PC to make a new one that could actually use the GPU. I ordered the cheap shipping on the RAM not knowing it'd take ages to get here (I'm used to UPS 3-day), and it finally arrived today. So my new machine is made up of...
Xigmatek ASGARD II Case (NEW)
ASUS P5G41T-M/CSM Motherboard (NEW)
Antec BP550 Plus 550W Modular PSU (NEW)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (1.86Ghz) (OLD)
Kingston 4GB DDR3 1066 (NEW)
ASUS 24X DVD Burner (NEW)
Western Digital 500GB SATA (OLD)
Radeon HD 5770 (NEW)
The CPU and HDD were in my standard machine until today when the RAM for the new one arrived, so I swapped them over... to find that not only did Windows 7 boot without any modification or effort on my part, it did not deactivate (it wasn't OEM anyways) and the only things I needed to do were install the new video driver and re-input the wireless key. I knew NT 6.x was better on hardware support, but damn that's impressive. Somebody I know told me that and I honestly thought he was joking, I was thinking I'd need to do a repair install or something at the least...
So yeah. Happy Rydian is happy!
The only serious update I plan to do for this machine's life is likely the CPU, gonna' see about a C2Q when I save up some more money.
EDIT:
Lol'd. Re-submitted with changed wording.
