I dont believe in buying games anymore. What I learned from pc gaming.

i dont believe in buying games anymore, been buying them since i was a child, most games suck, you end up spending thousands of dollars that can go to something else. You cant buy every single game out there unless youre rich anyway. You find out that console gaming right now is a total scam with power levels that cannot meet the requirements of how a game was meant to be played oftentimes barely meeting the lowest requirements, same with PC as it seems everything is developed with RTX2080ti ($1200 value) in mind.

There are too many "Launchers" out on PC:epic, steam, rockstar, bethesdas, etc. It really cludders my desktop, i like a clean desktop. But honestly i just like having the physical game, for those that dont know pc games in the past were bought in the store with physical discs and cases, everything is now digital which i hate.

Rebuying games sucks now, i used to not mind it, I even used to think "i hope they rerelease this/that" but now ive seen so many lazy releases that its ust sickened me(mostly square enix). Some games even require modders to basically replace the entire game with modded hd textures and stuff to be worth buying. I bought Devil May Cry Trilogy twice and never played them, Valkyria Chronicles Twice times, Twilight Princess Three times, ocarina of time three times, etc etc. After enough times enough becomes enough. most if not all games nowadays have you read and sign an agreement that basically says that you dont own the game but rather agree to having the rights to play it or whatever it is. Really if they make you agree to that you should be able to own it on all platforms, especially if they plan on going all digital in the future.

maybe im too old for games now...

If you don't like snow white and the 7 clever boys then you aren't going to buy it. RTX still is hardly a thing for gaming. Like you look at new game releases
Code Vein minimum specs: Graphics: GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon HD 7850 Recommended. Graphics: GeForce GTX 960 or Radeon R9 380X Those are like 5-6 year old Graphics cards. When RTX Came out it cut frames over half. 30fps for some games. I wouldn't say all games have gone to shit, far from it, but the last thing the market needs is people saying hah you buy music? Because it only promotes micro transactions which is a lot like sticking in a quarter to play pinball. If you could extend your life 300 years you might have every dam game in the world ever made, but you only have so much time in ur life to enjoy those games. A lot of people fall out of gaming I got sonic gamecubes games and stuff in my drawer I never finished. Will I one day idk but if I'm not playing today I'll probably not play it years. later. improved graphics doesn't change a story. if your a kid you just get your game on (yugioh joke) rereleasing helps attract fans who never experienced the original story. ff7 vs ff7 remake. it may not require us to use the same imagination we once had, but it's a memorial for the legacy it created. You can choose to take part in those memories or you could discover it years later only to realize you pushed yourself away from a thing you'd love.

@rivenmain i used to not care about graphics. the difference from ps2 gcn xb were marginal, the presentation and performances were the same. The jump from xb1 to ps4 to ps4pro to xb1x are pretty large and very noticeable the graphics and performances vary greatly and they DO matter. Same with computer graphics cards. Its BS.

maybe the future is Google STADIA where you get the same graphics and performance all top level without all the components and console confusions.

I'm not against buying games, but I'm just leary about the future of gaming. I'll start by saying I'm not a PC gamer. I have enjoyed my Switch and PS4. I'm wondering what PS5 is going to bring but "better graphics" with mostly the same old games, same goes for Nextbox. I'm actually pretty much done with Xbox though after how horrible Xbox One has been the last 3 years. I haven't bought one game for it, because there wasn't one game I wanted. PS4 had some great exclusives, and we'll probably get God of War 2, Spider-man 2 etc.... but it's just more of the same even if they are good games.

If for some reason you have reached a stage where you think the graphics and performance of games on the XB1X are absolutely essential to the experience and that you could not be satisfied with plain old PS3 quality or lower, then yes, perhaps you are too old for games. :-P

You don't buy a game anymore; we're persuaded to buy into a roadmap of a bit of software we get the rights to use until they see fit to either take it away or make you pay more to enjoy what you already paid for (subscriptions).

Game expansions are bullshit, they used to simply make a new game. DLC is bullshit, as it was probably all made beforehand and stripped to make more cash later on. Digital is convenient, but not owning the games you buy is some grade A shit nobody should be falling for.

You're not too old for games, you just took the red pill and are seeing through the bullshit that has become triple A gaming. (42 y/o, so I'm pretty sure I know exactly where you're coming from)

My advise: Leech ALL the things and AFTER you have 'evaluated', YOU decide if they earned your money.

@Kwyjor yes. I've seen the light. Graphics and performance matters A LOT. with these new games that are clunky and glitchy and filled with bugs the only thing it has going is the graphics and performance, which you dont get on console. Even ps5/XB4 understand that their system is bullshit. which is why the next ones are featuring Ryzen 7 and RX5700xt which are high end pc components.

"Seen the light"? I for one would prefer a game that looks slightly worse and that has interesting and engaging gameplay to a game that looks much better that is boring and stagnant. If you don't find gameplay to be enjoyable anymore, I don't know why you would bother with a game simply because it looks good. Just watch a movie or something instead.

@Kwyjor i used to think the same way you do. Dragon Quest 11 is a game that really is made for pc, once you play it for pc its hard to go back. It toug to play anything in 24-30frames, it has always hurt my eyes. Playing from 30 to 60 a big upgrade and going from 60 to 144 is bigger. Once you go from 24fps to 144fps you see the light. i havent seen 240fps yet, because its expensive but i do have to power should i find a cheap monitor sale in the future.

@Redhorse Not only that, but then you have the remaster problem. "Let's sell them a version of Dishonored 1 or Yakuza 3/4/5 from the previous generation with graphical touch-ups and a higher framerate for smoother gameplay, or a version of Donte May Cry with lock-on and other features that should have been in the base version of this game that, after DMC5, why the fuck did we ever make this!?"

It's the port problem, but with a slightly better-looking coat of paint. While I get that the reason these were necessary is because, unless they went with a SOC solution like they did with the OG FAT PS3 in regards to PS2 BC, emulating a system like the PS3 with the anemic Jaguar CPUs on the PS4, Pro or base, simply wasn't happening. No, I don't count PSNow and other streaming services because at that point, not only are you paying for a service not unlike that of Stadia, but like what you said, you're depending on the corporation to do several things:

*Have the licenses and agreements and other legal BS worked out to allow the streaming of third party's games on their service.
*The infrastructure on theirs and your ISPs end to be up and going anytime you want to stream.
*The PS3s that you're streaming the games from to always be functional 24/7 when electronics, as all things do, decay and breakdown eventually until the cost of maintaining such solutions is such that it's no longer profitable to Sony, and all they need to fuck that up is to do shit like this going into the PS5 launch just because they got so lucky with MS fucking up so hard in 2012/2013:

Personally, if the PS5 can achieve BC with the PS4 like the PS2 did with the PS1, that would be a big seller for a lot of people who switched, got started, or continued on with Sony from this 8th generation of consoles. Which is why the news that they're "struggling" with the BC with PS4 is so facepalm-inducing to where, if I was an investor with any clout in the company (not that I'd invest in Sony since, well, outside of gaming, they ain't doing so hot), I'd say that they have to include it as a feature so people will be more compelled to upgrade from the PS4 to the PS5, and that it has to include BC for both PS4 discs and the digital versions of games! People really appreciated MS focusing in on BC for the XB1, so much so that, when I pitched selling my Slim PS4 to one of my older brothers, he kind of didn't want it because of the XB1's compatibility with XBL which is a platform he's been using for most of his non-retro gaming for with the 360 since he hasn't felt the urge to upgrade with him not having a whole lot of time for games anymore at his point in life. Sony really needs to fortify themselves in addition to them finally supporting cross-play with other services when it comes to selling the PS5 and having weight behind the claims they're going to make to buyers in what's left of 2019 and going into the next decade!

@Kwyjor Final Fantasy 15. Sonic Forces. I'd rather watch someone else play it than play myself. Crash Bandicoot remakes, im not huge on watching others, it punishes me for being bad and I enjoy it for it. I think if you can't enjoy playing a game that you know you should like, but its gameplay's so easy a caveman can do it then there lies the problem. I'm not a graphaholic I can't blame someone for wanting the best, but the budget had to go somewhere.
