Goodwill Gameboy Grab - Rarity get?

Quick little stop at goodwill, and I find a classic gameboy bundled with two games for 10 bucks. I have a version of every other GB hardware, how could I resist?

It took a while to get the GB to work, and it's missing part of the battery cover's closing hatch, but eventually, with a bit of tape and a lot of patience, I got it powering on and playing stuff just fine, save for a few dead columns, a common issue with old GBs. A name sticker is plastered on top of it, most likely from its previous owner, but for respect of privacy I won't give the name here.

Both of the games are in pretty much perfect condition with no visible damage to the labels or carts whatsoever. The two games I received with it were "Tecmo Bowl" which is a fun little football game (Yes, I just used the words "fun" and "football game" in one sentence.)

and one other game...

"Battle Bull" (I think it refers to a battling bulldozer, who you play as?), in a little gameboy sized protective case.

This game, as far as I can tell, is made by SETA (also responsible for that HORRID Wizard of Oz game on SNES, though I can easily say this title is MILES better), and feels like a strategic version of SEGA's Pengo, in which you purchase upgrades for your vehicle which help you as you progress through harder and harder stages. Both carts work perfectly but I can barely find any info on this game. There's not even a wikipedia page on it!

I've seen only THREE copies of it on eBay, an extremely low amount for a GB title: two were import versions, and one was an american version, but new in box. This, of course, means that I have no idea just how rare a loose copy is. Anyone got a clue?

Haha, you have dead columns on your GB?
My dad's one that's now mine works just fine :toot:

Yeah, I do have a few lines. can't really cam it since the original GB screen is terrible to see through one and it wouldn't really show up. They're on the very left, and I guess it's functional enough for now. If dead columns mean a nearly dead game boy, though, I might be out of one. Guess that last guy played the hell out of the thing.

I'm curious about Battle Bull above all, though.

Ah! That sheds a little light on the thing. Still no clue on the price but at least I know a bit more about it. As for the pics being backwards, didn't notice, I take them with my webcam. Sorry :P

You actually found something like that there? I'm surprised, my goodwill barely holds anything, just clothes mostly :P.

I actually have two goodwills: one in east earl and one in ephrata. East Earl GW is the one I found this at, but usually they're pretty dry, save for an occasional NES bag filled with carts for multiple systems which I wish I had the chance to grab back when they were there years ago. I actually saw some cheap gamecube and XBOX controllers, though they were mangled as hell and the analog stick was missing its rubber so I passed. There's always a shitload of PS1s there though - There was 3 last time I went. One PS1 was bundled with a memory card, a SNES third party adapter (?), an N64 rumble pak (??) and Expansion pak (???) for $18. Not that I needed anything inside, but I smirked when I saw the "2.99 clearance" sticker still on the PS1 in the bag. Console would have been useless anyway as all three were either 9001 or 7501, so no easy swapping or anything I don't already have with mine.

The other goodwill has a lot more playstation stuff and not much else in the realm of older consoles, though something pops up now and again. That one did have an original game boy case for a buck, though, a while back...I wish I bought it now -_-

Usually all my Goodwill has is old original Xbox's.
The one time they did have something decent was years ago, when they had a DS.
More recently, they were trying to sell a broken Gamecube for $20. I'm fairly sure you can get a used one from Gamestop for $25.

They're actually 30 for Gamestop.

My Original GB has lines too. It's not a huge deal. By that I mean that it doesn't mean the GB will die altogether soon. It's just because the ribbon connector that controls the pixels vertically comes loose. It can be fixed fairly easily with a soldering iron but I don't have one of those unfortunately :/

Amazon prices a loose copy at around the $15 mark.

Ah, good to know. I may just have to use my soldering iron to fix the thing myself. If I break it worse I can just return it to GW and say I got it like that [/evil]

Thanks! Now I know what to set it at. I'll still profit, so that works for me :)
