My New Flash Drive is Effing Tiny

On Monday night, I ordered an 8GB flash drive from Best Buy. I saw it was only $10 on sale, and I thought it was quite the steal. Using a leftover $7 on a gift card, I dropped the total to just under $3 with free shipping. I paid for it and waited. I got home today, and there it was! I opened it up to a surprise when it comes to size.

That is the Sandisk Cruzer Fit. It is about the size of the end of a finger, as pictured, and the USB portion makes up nearly the entire actual drive. I've found that removing it from a USB port is an extremely difficult and pain inducing task for the fingers, since getting a grip on that small bit of plastic is insanely difficult. I tried a USB extender, and it still isn't so simple, since the end of it is somewhat encased. The only upside is that I can more easily grip the entire visible portion of the drive, and jiggle it loose.

Any suggestions for making it a bit easier on myself, you know, besides having it become a permanent piece of the USB extender? If not, it isn't a huge deal. I'll just build some calluses and get past the inconvenience.

You see that hook at its end? you gotta tie one of these straps and then always pull it to take it out.

Or any piece of string, something sturdy that will loop through.

To me it looks like there's a glob of black solder on the end of a USB connector XD

I found a suggestion of fishing line a couple hours ago. I forgot to mention that here though. I'm just having my sister rig it up.

That's tiny, I would love to have something that big but store as much as a harddrive can.

Oh wow that's tiny for a flash drive o_o.

But yeah, if it has a tiny hook in it, something is bound to go in it

I actually didn't notice the hook when I first used it. Oh, and I put the cap on the wrong way the first time and nearly got it stuck within 30 seconds of getting it out of the package. Thankfully, I learned and it now slides on and off easily.

Objection!

When did you buy it? 8GB drives these days are pretty inexpensive. The only reason I went with this was because I saved a whole $3 or $4 over the next cheapest option.

Mine doesn't have the metal shell. It only has the half of the plug with the 4 connectors.

I like your style, Nathan B-) I got one last week too. Here are some shots of my 32GB flash drive. @wchill: If it's half the size of the USB portion, how do you insert it into a USB port? Or do you use something else to access the data?

I approve. That's definitely a nice little drive.

A small update, I seem to have misplaced the tiny cap, and in the mean time, my flash drive is permanently taking residence in one end of a USB extender while acting as a game holder for my Wii. The cap is hopefully still somewhere around this desk, but since I'm far from the only person that lives here, it could be in many places.

Oh well, it'll turn up soon enough.
