Im thinking of developing a game.

I was thinking for developing a simple side scrolling shooter/platformer on GM8 but im not really sure if I want it to be adventure based or multiplayer based :glare: Also I want to use some orginal sprites but since this is my 1st game I think it would be easyier to use sprites from another game then maybe reskin it before I release it. Im not too sure. :glare: And tips/suggestions?

not multiplayer based. If it gets updated and people want it THEN add multiplayer options for local/online. also whats gm8? XD

inb4 Game Maker = good for non-generic games xD

Online multiplayer in Game Maker is a bitch. I wouldn't even worry about it if I were you.

If it's a small game go for it, otherwise learn a real language.
Edit: Oops, skimmed too fast through the op. Sorry if I sounded rude.

Well I was thinking of doing multi-player because I have bad experience with bots. But I think I should wait to impement it.

-.- Ok im sorry let me just go and buy a real game engine for a game made to be played for no more then a hour in short bursts. Its supposed to be based off TF2s class system (kinda like gang garrison 2 but I dont want it to be a 100% rip off of TF2 I want it to use some classes and weapons i've thought of and not just what TF2 had.)

Nah, I wanted to know peoples opinions on this subject but im not too good with coding :/ So I want to start out with something GUI based. and GM8 seems to have that so im using it. Also I got pro so im kind of stuck with it :/

Is it pirated?

Yeah :U
But im thinking of buying if this works out. Why will YO-YO game not take the upload if they know its pirated?

I was also thinking of making a game. A platformer for the DS, to be more specific.

The problem is, I don't have a clue where to start when making a platformer for it. I'm only able to make relatively simple homebrew. :C

I been working on GM for 3 years now, on the same game! I just been lazy and haven't felt like doing it. If I remember, I made some moving sprites and at least a title screen with 3 levels.

I would prefer to code it rather than use a game maker.

And from what I've seen, all of the currently released DS Game Makers suck.

I worked on a Sonic fan game for a few years some time ago. I used GM6. Almost in the first half of the year I've got the physics perfected, everything was going as planned. Later when I was putting together the game itself I started to see the limitations of gamemaker. I realized that gamemaker is very limited and not suited for this, because of laziness porting the game to some other language I dropped the project.
Like I said before if it's a small game go for it, otherwise it's not worth it.
