Birth By Sleep = Anger

Birth By Sleep is making me rage so hard. I don't like how the worlds battle level thing works. Give me an actual level, 1, 2, 3, etc., mean nothing to me in terms of even beginning to gauge the strength of the enemies I'm about to fight. I mean, I did the Deep Space level, and then the Olympus Colosseum level. Honestly, the Colosseum overall was a little more difficult despite the lower combat rating. The keyblades you get barely act as improvements (at least Terra's completely suck), and the extra critical form things seem to screw me more than help me when I get locked in for attacks, that in some fights, are pretty crippling.

The world design for new worlds is horrible. I mean, I know it's a handheld, but if you're going to make new worlds, add some detail. Either the worlds have too many areas that are just boring to go through (*cough Neverland cough*), or the world is too short and underdeveloped to even be worth going through. Hell, one of the worlds you do practically nothing in (Disney Town) easily has some of the most detailed and intricate environments that I've encountered so far.

Now, the big killer; the difficulty curve. Okay, every KH game eventually has a kind of difficult fight that you may have to level a little for, and then use a little strategy to beat. Well, I just hit the Master Eraqus fight (yeah, a spoiler, I'm angry and don't care) and am raging pretty hard. His attacks are devastating, and block is a total fail in this game. Even if you counter him, the damage isn't enough to make it worthwhile, and then he just turns right back around and starts another 8 or 9 hit combo that once he starts, you can't break, and will generally end in death or leave you pretty close to it. Considering how easy everything else had been (save boss fights where I got locked into an endless combo), this fight is beyond aggravating. I feel like I'm fighting Sephiroth, except at least Sephiroth flinched when you caught him off guard and hit him.

That leads me to my final complaint at this point. WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THE BOSSES AND SOME ENEMIES IN THIS GAME? Without allies of any kind, the enemies act a little bit too much like their PS2 heartless/nobody counterparts. Some of them, especially the bigger enemies, will knock you into a wall and just use a whole charging attack on you right there where you can't break it. Some bosses will lock you into an endless combo that unless you're good enough to block every one of their attacks, you're going to get knocked in. Hell, I caught a boss in an endless combo against a wall while chaining a stun move into my combo fairly consistently.

Overall, I'm having a hard time even understanding the love for this game among fans. The command system isn't done well here or in Re: Coded, the action is pretty broken at times (even more so than previous installments), and honestly, levels don't seem to do much. Level 20+, and enemies can still do the same fractional amounts of damage from world to world every time. The world design is even more bland than the DS installments, and the characters are nothing but the same personalities we already know (ie: Darkness consumed emo ass Terra = Riku who, surprise surprise, he picks for the keyblade). This is nothing but another excuse to add to the convoluted KH story, and honestly, I'm probably just going to delete the game. It frustrates and bores me more than it entertains me. I almost think of it as a chore to pick it up and play it.

The series needs to die.

The game is fucking with me or something then, as literally, my counters don't seem to do jack shit. Or maybe I just got unlucky and picked the wrong storyline to get used to the gameplay style with. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that every death so far has been due to getting locked in to some ridiculous combo that can take me from full to empty HP so easily it isn't even funny.

The original Kingdom Hearts game mechanics were more ironed out than this.
I played through all 3 stories on the hardest difficulty with ease.
It's not a very hard game.
:O That's pretty amazing. btw are you talking about the regular version or Final Mix version? If you're talking about FM, then the hardest level is Critical, in which you gain no exp at all due to an ability and the enemies are insanely strong.

I couldn't beat Critical mode, but I beat all three stories on Proud mode (hardest level on the regular BbS). I still haven't beat the 3 secret bosses that are FM-exclusive though.

358/2 days was way cheaper and harder.

Also Aqua is the easiest to play as. Magic is OP as fuck.
Though, I started with Tera.

Oh lol sorry, no i'm not THAT good. Just proud mode. I had no idea there was a Final Mix version.

358/2 Days was actually really easy. It was just really tedious. I had no problems beating that game. The only real problem I had was that I had to force myself through the terrible mission system.

yeah the mission system for Days was very long and boring. but ther were some formidable bosses in it and the story was great.

Oh yeah here's a spoiler video showing one of the strongest bosses in Kingdom Hearts BbS Final Mix
DON'T WATCH IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED

That guy also appears on the international versions of the game. And the both master's armors are stronger than him.

Game wasn't that hard for me. It was m'kay. I do agree that it was the hardest one, but it just takes some getting used to. You can't blame them for making the world lack detail, it's a handheld. Also, blocking is now extremely significant. You HAVE to block, or you will die. Yeah, Aqua was easiest. Magic is a lot better now.

And fans flock to the game because 1. Excited about new battle system, 2. Well, they're fans. They like the series. 3. To follow the ever increasingly confusing (but still, followable) storyline.

The game was good, especially for fans. For those that aren't and don't follow the story, the game will be incredibly difficult to understand. It was well made, at least it was a lot funner than the chore that was 358/2 Days. That one bored me to hell, just felt sooooo long even though it wasn't. Only worth playing for boss fights actually.

The regular version also has Critical mode :V. Only the Japanese version didn't but the English one did. Then they added it to the Final Mix version.
Oh and I beat all stories on Critical mode and it wasn't that hard mainly because you can get some really overpowered commands using the command board a.k.a the best minigame in existence!

Well, I've finished Aqua and Ventus on Critical mode, it wasn't hard for me because I always play it and practice the techniques of the game. You just need practice so you're gonna get used to the game. Now all I need is to play Terra on Critical mode.
BTW, anyone here unlocked the secret ending of the normal version of Birth by Sleep?

I thought BbS was the best Kingdom Hearts game to date.

It's not as repetitive at all as Kingdom Hearts 1. And it actually has difficulty unlike Kingdom Hearts 2.

OP: You just suck at the game. I've beaten the game on Proud on my very first try, and have ran into no problems that you're encountering. If you're stuck at Eraqus, you might as well delete the game because you are not going to have fun with the last boss or Aqua's final bosses.

I'm probably gonna go level grind a little after I beat Ys Seven and am content with where I ended. If I gain about five more levels and work on my curing magic, the fight should be substantially easier. One problem I'm having is that I'm walking in with a single Curaga, a Cura, and Hi-Potions, which isn't enough. The skills I have extra kinda blow too. I'll spam the hell out of the Command Board game too to work on skills quickly.

I assume I'm just at the point where bum rushing through the game is no longer a good thing. Just remember, when I rage, I rage hard. To be fair, this is the only KH game I've had any difficulty with. I've either beaten every other KH game (KH2 at least on a higher difficulty), or got so damn close and just got bored.

Use shot locks. They play a HUGE factor in the game and do a great deal of damage. But what I did with Eraqus, well any boss really. I just kept dodging for a while. Figuring out their attack pattern. Finding out when they attack and how close they get before they attack. The only one that it didn't work on was the last boss for Terra.

But you'll be glad when you play as Aqua. Her magic is simply just pure destruction.

Is there any real strategy that can be used with the D-Links? Most of them don't seem to help much and have actually gotten me killed due to the move set up that isn't very complimentary towards survival.

Would just like to say, I quit bitching, and I beat the entire game.

Aqua's story made me rage a few times, since her magic was really hard to utilize in the Vanitas fights. The final fight in Radiant Garden was one hell of a fight. Was I the only one who found Braig to be more difficult to fight than Vanitas-Ventus? I proceeded to go get butchered in the Badlands, then to stop playing, since I was kinda bored at that point.

Might play through it on Critical at some point, but for now, I'm content with just having beat it.
