As a result of the success of the Blu-ray Disc format and the release of many high quality games, the PlayStation 3 is predicted to be a very hot item in the upcoming holiday shopping season, according to a survey done by “Entertainment Media Researchâ€.
In wake of Toshiba’s announcement to finally end production of their now failed and inferior format, HD DVD, consumers in the report, who were once hesitant to embrace either format, have now opened up to the idea of accepting Blu-ray as their standard high-definition movie player. Blu-ray, which is a major component in Sony’s PS3, is expected to gain a large foothold in the market and sales will begin to gradually increase as time goes by throughout the new year.
A total of 1,600 British consumers were surveyed with 24% stating that they would watch a high-definition movie in the next six months. 60% of people who took the survey were listed as saying that they were holding off on buying into either format until a clear winner was decided in the battle between Blu-ray and HD DVD.
