idea if you can: make it so that every time you start up an app, it plays the little pop whenever you start up the wii.

I much prefer the neat little grid of squares the 3DS offers, along with the lack of an ugly bevel at the bottom.

I also get flashbacks of utter frustration, rage, disgust, and hatred whenever I see the Wii menu - borked, useless motion controls...fudgin' awful gimmick that only Sony was wise enough to minimise.
The Wii U was so much better.

the Wii u might be better critically, but I have so much nostalgia for the Wii. Mario galaxy was and still is one of my favorite games to date, and as much as I sucked at it, I loved Mariokart Wii.

You might be able to do something interesting with this concept and wallpaper engine. That would be able to play the music and you might be able to get some animation as well. Also, maybe if you made the icons larger on your desktop and made custom ones they could fill the entire space.
