Social acceptance...by playing certain games?

This what I always get for not 'fitting in' just to get accepted by my friends. Lately, my Skype friends play a shitton of Overwatch and Smite all day, talking about it in call.

...While I just play obscure/wapanese games that I myself only know and keep whatever I say just to myself. That alone makes me happy, even .01% of it.

I have decided not to play those because I have been thinking...I only do it just for the sake of social acceptance and just to fit in with my friends? That only destroys what truly I am as myself and actually a stupid decision for me to take.

I can still be with them, though keep myself on a distance and play unless they need me. :(

Feel free to your choices, my friends from high school used to play CoD all day while i played Pokemon on my NDS, and i still talked with them no trouble, ofc i'd get a little annoyed when they started talking about it, but it never bothered me that much to the point that i should distance too much from them, as long as they don't criticize you because your tastes are different from them, everything'll be fine.

Congrats, you play a game, that doesn't make you a gamer.

Somehow "Social acceptance" sounds more stupid than "Fat acceptance". Just play what makes you happy.

I'd like to understand the logic of how playing a game doesn't make you a gamer. I feel mind fucked trying to wrap my head around that.

Anyways I went through this in middle school, all the "cool kids" played Sony and/or Microsoft console while the "losers" played Nintendo. I didn't feel like I had to prove myself to anyone so I continued playing what I want and life moves on. Maybe get less shity friends? No offense.

Well, you shouldn"t worry about that, play what you like and as long as they respect your tastes it should be alright.

The problem is, the more wapanese games you play, the more they'll make. Its a vicious cycle that needs to be stopped at all costs.

Sort of like, if you don't have an iPhone you're not "cool","stylish" or "hip." It's fine for people that genuinely like them but to oppose a mentality of you'll only be accepted if you have one or you don't is pretty shitty. I prefer Android anyday over iPhone, just gives me the liberty to choose the apps I want and install apks off the web (root isn't always necessary). iPhones have jailbreak but whatever, they're more expensive and restrictive (no SD card slot and now no headphone jack).
