Anyone who's got BT here?

Apparently, this is the maximum speed that I can get from home. The max of the ISP is 8Mb...

I'll try the one in my college on Monday.
The one I posted earlier was from BT but that was business broadband and not regular home broadband.

I wouldn't worry about your speed on BT...

And that's on the Up to 8Meg/best package, I'm too far from the exchange to get nice speeds.

Yeah, for whatever reason, the speed from speedtest is never your actual download speed :\

That's because speedtest.net shows your download speed in kilobits/second instead of kilobytes/second which is the most used one when it comes to download speed.

one byte is 8 bits, I think.

so... divide by 8.

When talking about transfer speeds that isn't necessarily true, some of the bandwidth are used to transfer what you're downloading/uploading. So if you want an almost correct speed you should roughly divide it by 10.

G
ok, 10 then.
8 tends to be pretty accurate with me though.

I find it misleading that companies advertise with bits and never explain it later. It took me till I was 15 to get the difference.

I don't think this is right, my actual download speed is 2.5MB/s
Internet connection speed is normally displayed as kilobits per second.
The problem here is that "kb/s" is not equal to "kB/s".
The speedtest listed it as 17,484 kilobits, which is correct. Here is the math.
17,484 kb/s (Kilobits) is equal to ~2.1 MB/s (Megabytes).

I tried to get the worst stats possible...and I did....

My REAL speed test with my closest server is...

MUCH MUCH better ♥

That's mine. Good dl speed but shit upload. Ah well I rarely upload anyway lol.

Well... divided by 10 still isn't correct for me. With ports forwarded and a 200+ seeded torrent, I should get speeds of around 140kB/s, since I have a 1.4MB connection, right? My speed is usually anywhere from 40~90kB/s

Hopefully I can convince my mom to upgrade to a 6MB connection though.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.
