Is there anything that actually helps vision?

Just recently, I can't see anything clearly out of my left eye unless it's barely opened, if I open my eyes normally or wide it's all blurry. This is really scaring me. I'm looking at computer screens 6+ hours a day, so I know that's the cause, but is there anything that I can eat/do that will actually help restore and improve my vision?

Pretty sure carrots do help. But it could be that you just developed a simple stigmatism in your eye. I had that in my left eye, just went to the eye testing place, and they just hooked me up with a pair of weak glasses that does the trick. Though I barely wear them :(

Don't bother with old wives cures like carrots etc, it's a waste of time. As hells malice said just go to an optometrist. It could be something as simple as one eye being weaker than the other, which you can probably fix with corrective lenses pretty quickly. Or something more serious, either way just see a professional.

Perhaps you should research and see if "patching" would be beneficial (wearing an eye patch on the good eye to strengthen the bad, it works differently than just keeping an eye closed)

Carrots are something that is long-term helpful. It won't be the same as sticking something in your eye to help right now.

I once read that if you apply gentle pressure to your eye, whilst it is closed, you'll have better vision in that eye momentarily. Something about flexing the muscles or whatever for focusing. If the problem is persisting for more than a couple days, then head to a local clinic/specialist to get it checked out.

eggs are meant to help vision, but yeh see a specialist about it, may just need glasses

lol considering my vision without contacts is not even a foot in front of my face
you will most likely need glasses or if you are comfortable with touching your eyeballs get contacts
lazer surgery is also an option but that costa lotta moneys

Nothing you eat or do can improve your vision, and the user above who mentioned patching is misinformed...it wouldn't work at your age and not for this.

I just sounds like you fallen into the occupational hazard of a gamer which is becoming myopic, but of course you need to be properly examined to rule out any insidious causes. Odds are that a pair of glasses will fix things, especially as when you pinhole your eye to eliminate blurring by restricting the light entering your pupil your vision improves.

Lenses are your best bet. Sounds similar to what I had, squinting all the time. Even if they seem not to help too much, you will get to the stage where you can reflect that they are really useful, such as for night driving. i can't do it without my set now.

Definitely need glasses.
Definitely need to see an optometrist.
You should go every couple of years anyway ... even if your vision is fine to make sure you don't have glaucoma.

At whatever age Haloman is he won't have Glaucoma, of that i'm 100% sure.

Thanks for the help. All day yesterday I went without using my computer, phone, etc. And my eyes felt a lot better. I picked up some Lutein, a vitamin that has the same stuff that carrots have, and the problem at least hasn't gotten any worse.

I am really against wearing glasses. It will only make my vision worse, and I really don't want to rely on them. I'll just try to limit my intake of media and take more frequent breaks and see how that goes.

@Hells Malice, pretty sure that's a myth, but just to clarify, I don't do that anymore.

Now that is a myth and anyone perpetuating the fact that wearing glasses makes your vision worse/your eyes weaker is a moron. If your PC needs more RAM does giving it more RAM make it worse? No.

Your eyes are becoming longer and light is focusing in front of your retina. It's not going to magically get worse because you use a lens to change the place light focuses, and if anything going without them will make the problem worse because if you're unconsciously squinting, and increasing the ocular pressure, then it's possible you'll make yourself even more shortsighted. Wearing glasses now may actually be a step to preventing it getting worse.

As an SMC Tech (optical technician) I can fully agree with this. If you are under 18 wearing glasses will actually improve your eye- if you are over, the only thing that can make them worse is not wearing them (or contacts).
Go to an optician/ optometrist and find out what you need specs for (close/ reading/ computers/ driving) then pay for your prescription and buy the glasses from a reputable online site.
Unless you are about 9 there should be no shame in wearing glasses
