I'll be releasing an online Pictionary game for the 3DS probably in a couple weeks, so I'll have some networked drawing code that you may want to look at. You'll see it here (in another thread) when it's done.
Looks cool, i look forward to this

How to use?
Currently we're still developing pictochat3DS,
This is just an early beta release to test the capabilities of the first server.
The server may crash/restart at any moment.
In the future you'll be able to do much more,
But currently you can just chat using it.
Now we clarified that, lets begin.
- Download pictochat3DS in the download link below
- Unpack your download in the 3DS folder of your SD card.
- (location pictochat.3dsx: drive:/3ds/pictochat3DS/pictochat3DS.3dsx)
- Boot into the homebrew menu using your favorite method.
- Find and start pictochat3DS.
- If the server is available it will prompt you for a message to enter your username and press A
- (if no message appears, or an error, the server is down, or you don't have internet connection)
- You'll get a message that you're connected, and you can send messages using the A button.
- Pressing start shutdown pictochat3DS and brings you back to the homebrew menu.
Keep in mind that this is a work in progress please.

After tons of work on it (before release). we realized that a 3DS chat client wasn't that good of an idea.Doubt it's gotten much work done on it. I can't blame the devs, however. It could've been better executed, and maybe more people would've gotten interested in it. I have little understanding of sockets, and as a consequence, server development. Wish I could contribute, I might eventually, but I'm extremely lazy. Luckily I'll be spending some time off in the next few months.

You think it could be better execute it?
Tell me what you will do, and i'll consider making something similar to pictochat3D or make a clean update (was my first 3DS project, have some more experience now)
It is 3 lines now,The 29 characterlimit for messages, which I don't remember being changed, sorry if it was, is a bummer.
A standalone homebres for 3d drawing looks more interesting to me, and it's weird that someone hasn't done this already.Drawing, like in TheCruel's DrawAttack, would be nice.
I agree a 3DS chat client isn't that good of an idea. It's not very chat-friendly, since even if you could use the system keyboard, the touchscreen isn't the best for typing stuff. An IRC client like MapleIRC is a better fit for a text-only messaging homebrew, and I probably would've gone with an IRC client instead. To make it even more interesting, 3D drawings would be cool. Something similar to the layers in Colors! 3D. I guess that'd make it more compelling.

But a chat client, it's just way to hard on a 3DS to write messages.
3 lines on the bottom screen of your 3DS, that is 135 characters long. long enough for a message,What about 3 lines, though? As in 3x80 characters? Up to 3 LF characters? I don't get it, but if it's a decent limit, I take back what I said, and nice!
That's because the servers are down. There weren't enough people that used this. This is a great idea, I loved the original it was really fun. I downloaded and tried to run it, but it freezes at a blank screen and I have to restart my old3DS. If I could get some help that would be awesome. I can't wait to start chatting. Also, is it possible to create a server for you and a group of people. I want to be able to create a server for my IP address and allow my friends to chat there. Is there some kind of file that I can make or download?
aw just now that I was close to try it =3=That's because the servers are down. There weren't enough people that used this.
Well I wrote a custom server for this to get it working again.aw just now that I was close to try it =3=
I have it. I just don't know if @Tjessx wants me to hand it over.Well I wrote a custom server for this to get it working again.
Here:
But I need the source of the homebrew app to create a new server...
I would like to continue this, if it's ok.I have it. I just don't know if @Tjessx wants me to hand it over.
Know what, I think we both decided to discontinue the project. I'll shoot you a PM.I would like to continue this, if it's ok.
