Video now available

Hi all. This has been a summer full of work and I am happy to announce that the time is near! Here is a video for you all.

Thank WhoAmI? for the video!

Currently available

- Online chat
- Usable Interface
- QWERTY keyboard -since no one wants AZERTY

Future plans

- More Realistic keyboard
- Drawing features
- Multiple Chatrooms
- Permanent Chatrooms
- A lot more ;)

Update plans

  • I'm planning on releasing an update around wednesday the 9th.
    • This will include:
      • Online user list
      • Options menu
      • Some more error messages
      • Custom icon
  • Release TDB

How to use?
Currently we're still developing pictochat3DS,
This is just an early beta release to test the capabilities of the first server.
The server may crash/restart at any moment.
In the future you'll be able to do much more,
But currently you can just chat using it.

Now we clarified that, lets begin.
  • Download pictochat3DS in the download link below
  • Unpack your download in the 3DS folder of your SD card.
    • (location pictochat.3dsx: drive:/3ds/pictochat3DS/pictochat3DS.3dsx)
  • Boot into the homebrew menu using your favorite method.
  • Find and start pictochat3DS.
  • If the server is available it will prompt you for a message to enter your username and press A
    • (if no message appears, or an error, the server is down, or you don't have internet connection)
  • You'll get a message that you're connected, and you can send messages using the A button.
  • Pressing start shutdown pictochat3DS and brings you back to the homebrew menu.

Keep in mind that this is a work in progress please.

I got to say that I did use pictochat on the original DS and Lite a lot.
Sneakily gossiping about people sitting next to you in the train lol.

So, yes, please do make one!

Well, there wouldn't be any point besides for learning since you can already run the original DS pictochat on 3DS with a flashcard.

Thank you everybody for the feed back. I will start working on the July 18th because my schedule is full due to finale exams. If you would like to contribute please PM me. I know I don't have a reputation on this site so it might be hard to trust me that I will actually make this. My goal is to have it out by the end of summer. Please note that I am still learning C/C++ so this might get delayed.

Thank you for taking time out of you day to read this

I'm so tired that most of all homebrew IS JUST FOR NINJHAX!

I just don't have a Gateway card... If i did I would make a port but I don't want to spend 80$ besides smea said that ninjax will soon support 9.7 gateway is only up to 9.2. In order to port it I would also have to buy a 4.5 - 9.2 3DS i just don't have that kind of money.

There's this thing called emunand... Anyways maybe someone will be kind enough to port it!

EDIT: Assuming OP is on 9.2ish there's pasta CFW so you don't need a GW to use CIA's.

Atleast make an .elf file so we can convert it to .cia and .3ds

I'll see what I can do. I will post updates and screenshots throughout the summer. My main goal is Ninjhax although eventually I'll port this to gateway for those that don't have the privilege of running Ninjhax.

If you use devkitPro (don't know much about these things) it will dump both .elf and .3dsx

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.

    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
