THIS EFFECTS EUR REGION WiiU'S ONLY

I found out last night my WiiU background downloaded the latest update.
Upon booting my WiiU the Homebrew launcher and WUP Installer wouldn't launch, neither would my CFW installed games.
Thankfully this is a very easy fix

  • Step 1: Power on your WiiU
  • Step 2: Goto your Virtual Console DS game with the title "DO NOT TOUCH"
  • Step 3: Launch it, it should now reboot your WiiU into CFW
  • Step 4: Launch Homebrew Launcher
  • Step 5: Launch the CBHC Installer
  • Step 6: Uninstall your previous Coldboot Haxchi
  • Step 7: Reboot WiiU and repeat steps 2-5
  • Step 8: Choose "Install Coldboot Haxchi"
  • Step 9: When it has finished reinstalling your Coldboot Haxchi reboot your WiiU
  • Step 10: If it was successful you should now be at the CBHC menu, go down to autoboot and change to "System Menu"

That's it, you're done.

Mods please move if in wrong section :)

Thanks, this is for everybody who is sceptical and wants to be sure because they installed CHBC years ago and have no idea anymore what to do without risking a brick^^.

Is this eur only for real?
I always thought updates fixed the boot sequence (as in they always apply "home menu is what has to boot on startup")

Yeah only the Eur region WiiU consoles due to the new laws that passed. The update overrides one of the cbhc files

Everything I've read and seen, it's only affected EUR region consoles because of the new data laws that got passed
I see.
I might just update my console then.
At worst I just need to run the installer again.

I figured it would be safer to uninstall/reinstall than risk breaking something

I thought of it the other way. The more something is manipulated the more chances something has to go wrong/corrupt. However in this case I don't think it really matters which way its done. People should just go with whatever they feel safest with.

I can understand that but when you're console modding on after not sleeping for several hours, I didn't want to take chances.

I see.

Yea should be fine :)

Thanks, I should've seen this soner. Instead of entering the Do not touch folder I just lauched the homebrew browser exploit instead and reinstalled CBHC.

Sweet - worked a treat - thanks OP.
It was good after such a long time to have a nice easy to follow tut considering CBHC is 'dangerous' and I've not touched any hackery settings on my WiiU in an age.
Cheers bud.

Don't get me wrong when I first saw it I went into panic mode and started looking for how to fix. I'm just glad it was as simple as reinstalling

The title mentions EUR only, so I assume that if I update my CBHC WiiU (US console) it won't be affected? I thought it required the same fix.
When [the only?] launcher app is (re)installed, it gets indeed set as default app
(the DS game being manually set as default app doesn't make it considered a launcher, as you can see in SystemConfigTool)

Just that Wii U Menu was only updated in Europe (despite also containing a change in a tutorial picture intended for the American region, heh)

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
