Hacking What does this mean? (Ntrboot)

On the dsi ntrboot flasher github, I see this message:
"

• R4i SDHC cannot support restore feature; NDS memory limit
• These mean if you haven't compatible backup, you will lose permanently flashcart feature,
  if you have you can restore using ntrboot_flasher"

What does that mean? How to I "backup" my card?
Sorry if this sounds like a noob question, I'm out of the loop.

you need to back up the flash to be able to restore it after, as if you're backing up a NAND and restoring after you've done

Is there a way to do this with only a dsi and a nonhacked 3ds? Also, are 2016 .com.cn cards actually supported for this?

It seems you need to use ntrboot_flasher to backup/dump the flash rom which is only in .firm format so you're kinda SOL currently, also the flash rom is missing on the 3ds.guide so you may want to wait
