warnings, does your method have the infinite loop thing that I described in my earlier post?

I tried it yesterday, and I couldn't stop the infinite loop before it unloaded the game, and the system complained that the cart had been removed from the system. I'm not sure if I did it exactly the way you did it, though.

For anyone interested, I've been using the sky3ds blue button edition card and all the games I've thrown at it load and save as expected.

Yes, the button to scroll takes about 8-9 seconds to switch between games. This can be annoying, but I usually don't play more than a few games at once anyway so it's not a huge deal.

The only game I've had an issue with so far is resident evil revelations. I get the dreaded "this game cannot be started" error. Could just be a bad rip though.

If you followed the instructions it will scroll through all games on microSD, simply press and hold the red button for the game you want to launch...press A

CAN SOMEBODY TEST IF PROFFESOR LAYTON THE MIRACLE MASK IS WORKING ON RED BUTTON CARD
Tested on my R5SDHC (red button Sky3DS clone): I used warnings's method to install 5 games initially, and deleted one to make room for Miracle Mask. I used a sort of offshoot of the method to install Miracle Mask by using a fresh copy of the 1.05 writer and an otherwise blank template.txt file that only contained the second instance of Miracle Mask listed in the official template. It works fine for me. Both saving and loading have no issues. Just incase you need the specific (US version) template.txt:

So, it means we can play unlimited number of 3ds games with the Sky3ds?
In a way, yes. The workaround methods allow users to play any number of their region 3DS games they wish, but not every game is in every region, and it still has some bugs like the fact the writers can apparently only handle 31 games per MicroSD.

Apart from the annoying cycling through roms and having to hold the button at a fairly precise point in time to stop it (and the non-stop blinking light), it's pretty much the same as a blue button Sky3DS.

Works and saves great as a 10+ game on red button sky...just like every other game does when set to eeprom yes.

annoying cycling through roms
Am I the only one that likes this? It sucks pushing that button every god damn time.

In a way I like the Lazy Susan effect to it where I can sit back and wait for the right game, but it seems needlessly frusterating that I only have a split second to hold the button down in order to stop it. It means I have to memorize the list, and anticipate the game I want before it shows up on screen.

As soon as the rom's jingle starts, the blue light (not sure what color it is on the Sky3DS models, but R5SDHC has a white button and a blue light) turns on for a little while, which means it's already ejecting the rom image. If I push it too late, I get an "game cannot be read" or "game has been removed" error, which balances out the nice laziness with frustrating annoyance.

I'm actually kind of neutral to it, because it's so balanced IMO. I just want to let people know that it might annoy them more than it annoys me.

warnings, I have a question about your method.
There is a discussion about how it works saves on Sky3DS, since it saves inside Sky3DS and the memory is limited, how many saves your method can store? What happens if all memory be filled? And if all these issues are known, is there any way to clear saves from the memory?

Sorry if I asked something which was answered before.

Sorry if this comes across as answering for warnings, but we had this discussion earlier in the thread.

It's not really clear how the registry system works, so people tend to worry about if there is some way to corrupt or overload the save system. However, warnings made an exellent point on how both the game and save are on the MicroSD since you can just use the MicroSD for both types of backups. It wouldn't make sense if you didn't need the cart but still needed the cart (since saves are, at the very least, temporarily stored in EEPROM (for CARD1 games)).

I think eeprom yes saves are saved to sd and loaded to eeprom on the fly.
If the eeprom has saves from a bunch of different games, it certainly wouldn't be emulating a retail cart.

Yeah, EEPROM is flushed every game cycle, and .SAV files are stored on microSD, which is why you can backup/restore saves using diskwriter...no worry of over-loading, maxing out, or corrupting the EEPROM.
It is a very bullet proof system.
I am curious if we can share .SAV files?

Nice! Thanks for the answer johnbus and warnings.
Well, I will test warning's method today.
I am working on a tool to automate method 1, but if your method is working, I think my tool is useless.

Well, about saves, I am curious how it will handle with my Pokémon OR which has a save inside it.
And we can share saves to test. However, I believe it will be fine.

CARD2 saves should work fine since the cart seems to handle it the same way whether or not it's one of the original 10, which is why so many people just convert everything to CARD2 format. Keep in mind, it may not be as easy to remove or replace the save as it is part of the rom. If you are going to back up a CARD2 game, back up the entire rom (although this would mean sharing CARD2 saves isn't advisable in this case).

I have Animal Crossing: New Leaf working fine despite it being a CARD2 game, although I had to use the original writer. I haven't tested many CARD2 games, but I'm fairly confident they will work fine.

No problem loading resident evil revelations. Use latest writer and template.

I can confirm that the EUR version works fine. Are you a 100% sure that your ROM's region matches your system? Can you provide a CRC of your ROM for comparative purposes?

My 3ds is a US version hence i am using US ROM for Revelations. Its weird that its already 3rd ROM that i downloaded but still the same error "GAME COULD NOT BE STARTED" so i am thinking that this game not compatible yet to SKY3DS. Can you let me know how to get that CRC thing?

You can download tools, but I find creating a RAR file using winrar the easiest way. Once it's created (the rar file), you can open it up and one of the columns shows the file's CRC.

It's easy because I already have winrar installed in most cases...
