Well, I pay rent, then around $60 in non-apr based bills (insurance, netflix, etc lolz), then about $200 in apr-based bills, plus a girlfriend, so to me being able to COMFORTABLY buy a 3DS is tough. Granted I could use a credit card like any one else in the world, I will not go that route. I also feel like every one should have at least 1,500 in their account at all times for emergencies, so to dip in to it for a handheld is meh, not what I'd want to do.
I wish the price was just a tad lower, or that there was some place that offered a REASONABLE trade-in value for your DSi. Gamestop wanted to give me like $70 for mine, and it's in seriously mint condition. It's barely been touched, it looks so sexy. It has the Tekcase on it, which is incredible, also sexy, and expensive. They'd probably give like $1 for that.
I hate to say it, but to me the selling point on buying a 3DS is me waiting for word on if it's possible for future flashcards to work on them...Games are expensive, too. The day flashcarts are announced, I will toss money at the nearest store for a 3DS.
The price is FAIR (in the USA, anyway), dont get me wrong. My thoughts on it are that it is more than fair, it's reasonable - I just can't bite the bullet and buy it because I feel like I'm paying more than I can and should, given my current income, and the fact that I only play handhelds for rare situations, such as waiting in long lines.
