Update: I deleted the new character that I made, and the boat at my dock reappeared! Weird.. Where did I messed up?! Does this mean I can no longer have a new character?

Where is the house data for the player 1 home furniture??????

They're only in the mori.bin file.

Just use CTRL+F to look for the pair of bytes of the furniture you want to replace, and replace it with what you want, then use leaftools to inject the modified mori.

I haven't played with it enough to see if the adress is static or not.

That happened because you injected an old RAM file that was created using another player, that's all. You may try to inject an older RAM file using a character different to the one who lost its rooms, but then, you would be going back in time in other aspects.

Custom furniture use both higher flags IIRC, it would be a hell to index all of them.

You can edit room furniture with my dumps too ;-) But you cannot inject for the current playable character. That's why Kippy lost her furniture.
Yeah, that's the difference : you can inject with the mori :)

Did it a couple days ago, but since I'm no longer on holiday, can't test further!

How does Lyle and visiting island relate to one another? I thought unlocking the island would only require paying the first couple of home loans to Tom Nook using the bellpoint machine?

Lyle is also unlocked by paying the same loan as the one that gives you access to the island.

Back when I was testing the house modifiers, I managed to max my house with having a unpaid loan and the ABD refuses to let me pay that specific loan that allows Tortimer to show up at the dock, and unlocks Lyle and the HHA counter.

Shrinking my house didn't work, sadly.

I also managed to inject with my dump too some time ago ;-) You just can't inject for the current playable character.

Meaning that you could inject infos for player 2,3 and 4 when on player 1, but not player 1's house interior. This makes sense to me, actually.

Interesting to learn :)

(Then again it's 8 in the morning and I'm not 100% awake so I probably misunderstood everything)

How hard do you say it would be to do RAM editing in a Hex Editor if you've pretty much never done Hex Editing?

ACNL was my first dip in hex editing and well, all I can advice is this : Start with small things that will not impact your gameplay if you mess up. Also, make backups. Make so many backups.

Things like changing the town fruit, house exterior, namely, are pretty easy to do. Grass patterns as well.

Bigger things, like playing with villagers, house interior size, town tree, PWP, have more risks, and it's better to take things slow.

I used the data of several towns to do most of my research

Okay, that's what I thought. Sorta.
I wasn't planning on touching my Town Tree (only moving it) or villagers. (only moving their houses) I want those things to change on their own.
With PWPs, I only wanna remove one Stone Bridge, edit the map a certain way, and add in three wooden bridges, and put a hammock on the beach if that's not something I can do normally. All other PWPs are another thing I want to do normally. Making your map 100% perfect via hacking takes the fun out of playing the game normally.

How badly can map editing screw up your game? I'm not moving waterfalls, they're in the perfect position for what I want to do, and I want to move the permanent buildings I have right now (Recycling Shop, Town Hall.) and the villager's and player's houses.
I could show you a picture of my current map vs a shit digital sketch of what I want to do with the RAM editor, maybe that could give you an idea of what could go wrong.
I don't think I could do that right now, though. I'm at school.

can someone help me with this simple code:
AC New Leaf, 99000bells for player 1, inventory slot 1

address is 0x6BD0 - 0xBD1 and bells hex value is 2112 so the AR code should be 00006BD0 00001221 , right ?
so why can't I get it to work using this tool: http://lunarcookies.github.io/cheat.html (or this : http://fort42.hostei.com/ar3ds/editor.php?game=270 ) ?

It works with hex editing but I want to try with action replay code and I'm tired of switching the sd after every change :/
My 3dsxl soft is under xxxx-0.23, sysnand, and all the ram injections/dumps tools works for me.

Have you tried to use the LeafTools QR code for filling up your locker with 98,000 bell bags?
I think it'd just be easier to do that then it would to do hex editing crud. But then again, I'm fairly lazy and unmotivated and scared to do hex editing, so I'd always choose the easiest and/or safest way out.

yes, the tool does work for me but I want to use AR codes, I really liked thoses in animal crossing wild world and I hope they are coming back to AC:NL ( coordinate modifer, teleport, warp speed, text to item, alien and pink trees...), I'm really sad that I can't get this simple one to work

edit: ram editor is just like Animal map back then, I always found the Codes funnier.

So mori.bin contains the furniture for all 4 players?
acnlbin.ra does have the furniture information, but it's not possible to inject with the current player character.

I need to make a mori.bin of the file where I have four houses to confirm

Tomato Hentai

If you're planning to edit slightly, it's fine. It gets riskier with more than two slopes, moving waterfalls and such. But things like slightly changing the river shape isn't problematic, if you use two pieces that have the same flow.

I've heard that making islands can be risky, which partially is what I'm going to do.
I'm going to have the river split into two and form a tiny island in the middle of the town, which is where I'll place the Plaza+Tree.
Like I said, I don't need to move waterfalls, and I think people were actually removing waterfalls when they made islands. Not 100% sure though. I feel like the worst it could do in my case is screw up the direction in which the river flows.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
