You sure? PSX had a 33.7 Mhz procesor, 2MB RAM and 1MB video RAM. 3DS has dualcore 268Mhz and floating point arithmetic coprocessor and 2x64MB RAM. New3ds has twice the core count and RAM. If I recall correctly a paper about emulation I read some time ago, you need around 4-8 times the power to emulate hardware, which 3DS has and NN3DS has with some spare power. It's all matter of how you code the emulation, in the end you don't have to use even the half of the power. Depends on architecture and coding skills.
You seem to forget that PSX has a RISC processor and 3DS an ARM processor. (ARM processors and RISC (the research group) processors are RISC (not the research group) processors) Even though they are similar, they are different so instructions still need to be translated.

GOOD LORD DESCENT
Can you imagine that in 3D? The game still has appealing feeling even on PC. I still play the DS port from time to time. That would be effing awesome!
I can't get the ds port to work without crashing every 5 minutes, did you find the solution?

I couldn't make it work with Acekard 2i, but then I got Supercard DSTwo and it just works like a charm, dunno why.

Aside from emulators, I'd like to see some neat apps like a Music Creator using a piano roll setup much like Mario Paint that allowed you to export a MIDI (if that'd even be possible).

Reminds me of NitroTracker DS. What an awesome piece was that, it would be great to see some tracker homebrew with a synth.

It's funny how some people get so defensive here at the slight mention of this exploit leading to a Rom loader. Yes, it's not a kernal exploit, but there's a possibility that it could lead to one. My guess is that these people are just upset that they payed for a Gateway and there's a chance other people will get the same thing for a cheaper price.

Inb4 someone makes a homebrew channel installer using leaked 9.x keys.

Anyway, that's what I want. A homebrew channel installer so maybe if Cubic Ninja goes extinct I can use a friend's to install it or something.

I also want a theme manager, but since themes are in CIA format I don't think it will happen soon.

In fairness, I should note that there are PD software titles (and even src code) that were once commercial (and still sometimes included in classic game bundles).

My list of wants include:
Emulators
Any game systems that can be run decently
Atari 2600-7800
DOS
Commodore (I miss my VIC20 that taught me to use BASIC)
MIPS (to use Dingux, etc. software)
TI calculators (Z80/68K/ARM)

Interpreters
ASM (any CPU architecture)
BASIC
BRAINF*CK/Turing
C (yes they do exist)
Lisp
LOGO
LUA
Python
SCUMM VM

General
A real 3D paint program
Document editor (RTF, spreadsheet)
HEX editor
Sound recorder, editor
Garage Band-like composer
File explorer with SMB and/or AdHoc WIFI, etc.
Universal remote
VNC/RDP client
WIFI gamepad
WIFI scanner/sniffer
Shared whiteboard/chat with local and online capability
IRC client
SSH client

DO IT! (JK.. I want to contribute with things on the list)

I'm hoping any ported multiplayer homebrew (and emulators) will support AdHoc and internet cross-play with other systems running ports of the same games (PSP, Android, GCW-Zero, etc.).

As well as a realtime game patcher of some sorts I like the idea of:
  • More advanced RAM dumper/a RAM modifier?
  • ROM/FS Dumper.
  • Screenshot tool
