I really miss this one. Right now I must set up an entire new SD card. And I don't have the backup of the old one.
It's really, REALLY a mess to find games on the sites. Specially if you are looking for european versions of eShop games. For example: Right now I'm looking for european versions for Picross e7, Witch's Cat and Shift DX. You can't find these games! And then they all usw these stupid 1 Click Hoster behind these URL shrinkers aka malware slingshots.

In the last years the people only used Freeshop and stopped to build a good sharing scene. That's absolutely sucks.

Would it be possible to download apps if we had a community database of valid tickets? (I know this isn't practical, and these tickets could easily be banned, im just curious)

Valid tickets are linked to the NNID and Nintendo account of the person who bought their legitimate games from Nintendo eShop.

You can't share your valid tickets to other people because their 3DSes will have their own NNID and Nintendo account. Nintendo also has a record of which NNID is tied to which 3DS. Anyone whose 3DS isn't the rightful owner of that NNID when it's being held by another 3DS and they try to access Nintendo eShop, will result in a ban for both (or all) parties.

There's no way to bring back freeShop, or an undisputed successor to claim its mantle.

Unless you're a mega rich, secretive 3DS user who sets up multiple dark servers located at pirate friendly countries hosting 1-to-1 copies of the games found on Nintendo CDN and a new freeShop v5.0.0 app was programmed from scratched to work with said dark servers, forget about it.

I assume it is safe to remove the app off my card? I haven't done it yet.

Can anyone tell me what would happen if I enter the shop? Would there be any consequences?

I think that with or without freeshop, it would not refrain the sharing scene to become the cancer that is now. I can remember of protected links under many layers of bs like board registrations and handful of url shrinkers and
monetized hosts and all that crap since the PS2 or PSP scene. Okay, we have torrents, but they are prone to lack of seed, as the links on file sharings sites can expire didn't getting an reup. Alas that's the cancer killing internet.

I'm honestly curious about what you guys think that will be the future of the sharing scene. For one I kinda hope and wish that somehow it will turn back around and come up with something cool to bring it back, on the other hand I just see it devolving back to what fagnerkof was saying...

I mean, there's not a lot of games I wanted to get since the 3DS lost all momentum, but it was fun to get a couple games to try once in a while.

Hello guys,

even though nintendo blocked CDN, Freeshop was still useful to me because i could go to game tabs and it gave me summary of which game has DLC or updates required, now Freeshop will not even go to game tab but forces me to download EOL version. Is there a useful homebrew app which it shows quick summary of games that need DLC or updates? Thank you in advance.

Just out of curiosity, why exactly does the arm 11 crash when trying to download something through the freeshop, rather than just being unable to download the title?

I'm not a programmer, but my guess is whatever the change to the CDN is, Freeshop doesn't have an error handler for it and so crashes to the arm11 error handler.

It's not instaban, where did you get that info?

Why not download the update's .cia file, if you don't want to enter the eShop?

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
