Nintendo to shut down its mobile game Dragalia Lost, service to end soon

asddasdasdas.png

One of Nintendo's mobile games will be coming to a close and shutting down later this year. Dragalia Lost, a collaboration between both Nintendo and mobile game developer Cygames, will no longer be getting any further content after March 31st, with a final summon showcase. Story content will slowly trickle out until its completion in July 2022. Nintendo stated that Dragalia Lost will "come to a close" at a later date and service will be ended, presumably rendering the game unplayable. An exact date or timeframe for the closure of the service was not given.

Dragalia Lost launched in 2018, and featured crossover events with the Mega Man, Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, and Persona 5 franchises. It was also Nintendo's first original IP designed specifically for mobile. As of 2020, the game was Nintendo's fourth-highest grossing mobile release, bringing in over $146.4 million in revenue worldwide.

I read elsewhere that they'll be repeating the seasonal content.

I understand that to mean new players can still enjoy the entire game and all that's been made for it, if they play for several years.

I wonder if there will be a preservation effort.
That'd be great, especially since Sonic Runners is fortunately still kept alive by fans last time I checked on discord. But Nintendo will probably C&D it faster than Koopa the Quick!

That's too bad, the game was genuinely good and it had a pretty enjoyable gameplay. Well now there's Genshin Impact so when it's about « mobile gacha gameplay », Dragalia Lost is still a bit there, but not too much.

The thing is that it never really launched in Europe. Was unavailable in France and I had to have an account located in the UK to download it, so it wasn't even easy to play the game to begin with. Not only that, their anti emulator stance didn't helped either and I think that's how I stopped playing it.
I spend way too much time on my PC, i barely use my phone when I'm home and yet I'm playing Genshin Impact everyday because it's available on PC and it seems that more and more mobile companies are taking example : if you want western people to play your games, make it available on PC. The best way is to port the game but even if it's only available through emulation, people who are interested will play.

That's sad, the game was enjoyable, but no launch in Europe and no compatibility with emulators ? I already have too many online games to play daily, I'm not going to bother adding mobile-only games.

it didnt launch in EU because it probably cant pass there laws. I wish more countries would stop these video game companies from the unethicical gatcha micro transactions. gatcha games have ruined game development and id argue there hasnt been a good traditional game without additoinal purchases made for a lnog time and this is ass backwards when developers aren't worried about developing entertainment they are worried about how to manipulate the weak minded lemming to using his credit cards. too many weak minded lemmings ruined the gaming market by buying into this crap. people need to stop being lemmings and playing these gatcha games and destroy the companies that release these horrible games that arent about entertainment.

It's not a law thing. There are many many gachas available on the continent. Belgium is one of the few countries where it wouldn't be able to get released but it's not a problem for the rest of the continent (idk about others countries), so the problem is elsewhere. Maybe a financial thing, idk, but it does seem like it didn't worked out.
