No need to call me a dipweed. And if they knew, why haven't they pushed updates for the known system vulns ? Are they just waiting for somebody to exploit it and then patch it ?
Sorry I wasn't calling you a dipweed, I was calling the wiseass joker that ratted out the unban thread one.
There's a big difference between knowing how a vulnerability works and how to fix it, or at least without pissing off your customer base.
EDIT: Yay, no longer a Newcomer. And my mom said I'd never amount to anything :D

If it were that simple, then exploits wouldn't exist for any console ever.
there's always bound to be a bug or exploit but my thing is if not a9lh what they trying to fix they have the keys so do an overwrite and what not. im no coder so forgive my oversimplification. it seems simple enough if you have both source codes.

If nintendo improves it's security on the 3ds a lot, we might not be able to use their online services on the future, even they could fix k9lh via a hardware revision like they did at half with the Wii

I'll just say it, Nintendo missed their chance to fix the 3DS' security with 11.2. Now with no more major game releases left, there's very little incentive for us to upgrade in the future . If 12.0 comes with some miraculous A9LH-busting function, we'll just not install it and use httpwn from now on.

If they improved the security of the online play control system, all the games that use it would have to be updated as well. That's just simply not going to happen.
EDIT: Sorry for the double-post, I thought it would auto-merge :(

Pretty much this. I rarely use my 3DS for online play anyways. Usually for either single player or local wireless :)

Pretty sure that counts as a major release game. We'll see more major releases in the future until Nintendo stops supporting the 3DS family altogether.

I believe if this is actually real then what Nintendo is trying to do is find and patch any and all ways to dump ROMs to avoid future game leaks. If they do this then they avoid another pokemon sun/moon ban fiasco. If the hacking community weren't so greedy with trying out online systems before release dates then I'm sure this wouldn't be happening. I feel bad for anyone who hasn't hacked their consoles if Nintendo succeeds as cfw may not be a thing for non a9lh consoles :/

Why would Nintendo need to contract bounties to find exploits in their own hardware when I;m pretty sure they have their own team of tech school graduates that make WAY more than $100 and are dedicated to the very same thing? It just doesn't make much sense to me in the long run. It would be different if they were running some kind of secret Cycadia recruiting BS for a secret project but I highly doubt they wouldn't be able to assess their own vulnerabilities.
