Ah I thought it would still look for arm9loaderhax.bin if it couldn't find boot.bin.
When prompted you entered "homebrew/3ds/boot.bin" without the quotes?
I just did this. I'm now running ShadowNAND, Luma3DS and Gateway 3DS all through A9LH. :D

Can you run SSB or MH4 using Luma?
If using A9LH/ Luma CFW, I can assure you, yes.
Using Luma on Emunand, I have no idea, sorry.

[EDIT]
You're on O3DS XL, just saw it now.
I'll test it on a 2DS I have and see if it works.

When I replied, I spoke so confident because I have a N3DS XL and it works.
[/EDIT]

[EDIT 2]
It works also on a 2DS A9LH/ Luma Sys v11 so it's not hardware under specs.
Maybe something with the ShadownNAND or the GW?!?
[/EDIT 2]

Anyway if you don't care about A9LH you can use Luma CFW without installing A9LH xD

The boot will be a bit more longer but...who cares?! I wanna my sysnand untouched :)
Yes I can run AGB on emunand too and yes I can still use TWL in patched sysnand mode.
This remember me RxTools

Cravas, can you tell me what are the options you're using with Luma?

Pressing "select" on boot, Luma3DS v6.0.1

On 2DS

(x) Autoboot SysNAND
(x) Use SysNAND FIRM if booting with R (A9LH)
( ) Use second EmuNAND as default
(x) Enable region/language emu. and ext. .code
(x) Show current NAND in System Settings
(x) Show GBA boot screen in patched AGB_FIRM
(x) Display splash screen before payloads
( ) Use a PIN

On N3DS XL, I have also:

New 3DS CPU: Clock+L2(x) (on 2DS and O3DS this must be "Off"

Thanks. I think it is due to the Pathchanger.

Maybe, I'm still trying to figure out what the pathchanger is needed for, :D

[EDIT]
Ok, just saw it with clean eyes:

(Optional) Making Luma3DS work with an external boot manager

If you're using a boot manager (BootCtr9, CtrBootManager9, ARM9Select, etc.) to load Luma3DS, you won't be able to play GBA/DSiWare games, or certain games that need more RAM on the device (such as Super Smash Bros).

What is this Luma3ds.bin file the github is referring to in that pathchanger part? There is no such file in any release.

As it says on the page "On Windows just drag the Luma3DS (NOTICE THIS SPACE HERE) .bin on top of the program" which I believe to be the A9LH arm9loaderhax.bin (that's the only bin for Luma3DS).

Damn, my brain is spinning....

That is the only bin file, sure, except the tutorial at the top says menuhax doesn't need it, and it seems to be for Arm9Loader configurations and it's named that way as well. So if it is the .bin mentioned in the pathchanger section, I think it needs to be reworded to be clear, because currently it sure isn't.

Well, that is something that the writer as to deal with, if He see's fit, :)

We, as free user's of some poor soul's free work, can only try to understand the best we can and live with it, ;)

And, just out of curiosity: why you mentioned Menuhax? From what I understand, the pathchanger is only required if you use an Arm9Loader booter, not to be used with Menuhax.
Forgive me if I'm Reading your post in the wrong way, O.o

Sorry, I confused CTRboot with menuhax, I use them both. I meant CTRbootmanager. You need pathchanger for extra-ram games like Smash or Monsterhunter to work with Luma & CTRbootmanager, for some ungodly reason. The instructions aren't very clear at all.

I'm almost tempted to put a boot loader to test it, :D

Since I boot straight to Luma A9LH, I've experienced 0 probs with RAM eating games (as I said earlier) either on N3DS XL or 2DS but now, you got me thinking.

Will try this and leave my input, after, ;)

I managed to get it worked. It seems that I renamed the .bin file before using the pathchanger. I tried to use the pathchanger first and renaming it after and it now works. Thanks for all your help ;-)

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
