I took one for the team and tried to update with Luma Updater and Star Updater.

Luma Updater wouldn't start at all. Gives a 404 error.

Star Updater does start and WILL "update" you to what seems to be either Powerfirm3DS or an earlier version of Luma.

Stay away from Star Updater for the time being!

As far as splash screens or boot animations go I have to go boot animations nothing like a cool sequence to kick off the gaming session.

Can someone bring me up to speed about what happened?

I've been inactive with the 3ds scene recently, and I get like 5 people messaging me about some drama shit
I'm not that aware of the situation but as far as I know, someone hacked accounts and auroras's was compromised and they deleted the Luma download links or something going like that, basically is better to wait until the real owner do something or idk

Thanks to the people who responded.

For now, the build site should (?) be unaffected, as it won't build things that aren't luma (such as powerfirm, which replaced Luma3DS's repo). If anyone can confirm the latest build works that would be fantastic.

Aurora seems to have gotten her GBATemp back, but her github is still under the control of the hacker (I'm not going to point fingers here, it's just going to be baseless assumptions).

Due to the nature of git, no source code, nor any history for the repo, was lost. We're fortunate - had this been SVN, almost everything would be lost.

Luma isn't dead, and there's no reason to believe it will be. For now, we just have to wait until Aurora gets her github back. Worst case scenario, she creates a new account and migrates the repository.

As StarUpdater (which I have officially discontinued) pulls from the latest build flagged stable on my site (which is outdated now, as the only reason it set the flag was for StarUpdater), it is probably "updating" to an old version of Luma as you suspected.
