I recommend simultaneously using both local backup and cloud backup, but bandwidth caps aside, I see no reason not to at least use some free cloud backup.

I use local backups of my workstations (system drives) to my windows server then it back's up to the cloud but normal file backups go directly to the cloud, I was doing my own S3 object storage but the cost was getting high at the time due to the amount of data but 14TB>unlimited for $150 a year. Well worth it since it paid for it self many times.

I have two Hard Drives (SATA and IDE) from dead laptops, but it wouldn't fit into 250 GB or 60 GB (310GB total) drive with about 340 GB from a computer, though.
Oh well, there's a System Image Backup feature, I didn't care about backing up before doing major changes, so I'm totally stupid. xD

Well now you know you should always backup before doing changes..its good change management!

Nah, you are not stupid. Back in 2000 I was oblivious of hard drive failure so no backup were performed. Then it was that day I learned my lesson, the hard drive squealed and it was that sound of the hard drive failure, as well as Windows would instantly freeze when putting any data on several bad sectors. I nearly lost everything, surprisingly was able to recover about 40GB of data, and this was the time 250GB hard drive was a premium. At least you are taking a step of backing up your data, so that's a plus. I on the other hand wasn't.

I agree with Random we all make mistakes and what not, at least your dad let you back on the computer...in 1993 when I screwed up I wasn't allowed back on the "Family PC" till I purchased my own and a new Family one..then I took over all computer related work haha..now I do it for a living. I didn't really start backing up till 1995 with zip disk then to tapes, CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, now Cloud...I have school work from 1990 and full VM images of old desktops from 2000 lol...

I used to use mega alot, I have Egnyte connect for that. But the mega sync app can be used to backup files easily.

Google Drive offers 15 GB for free, which I've found to be enough for most people. When someone needs more space than that, excluding his or her pirated movies and TV shows usually suffices.

I don't, but I'm not saying that people shouldn't use Mega. I'm just telling people to be cautious. Personally, I recommend Google Drive to people since it's likely to be around for a very long time and offers 15 GB (+1 GB each year you do a security tuneup).

My GDrive is almost filled with music and homework. I got OneDrive with 25GB left around somewhere, but I think I already surpassed that with my other files lol.

If you use your computer for only browsing and Saving pictures ,viewing videos.etc. You can install Linux Mint or Ubuntu.I have heard and used it.It is malware free and works fast.IT ALSO HAS A GOOD APPEARENCE.I like it.Your files will be more safe in Linux when compared to Windows.But i use windows 10 because i play windows games(.exe).Now emulators are also releasing for Linux.PPSSPP,PCSX2 etc.You can also use WINE(Windows emulator for linux).But it really hangs ,many glitches etc in my experience.
