Having the choice between either one, and I'm hoping someone will explain to me the benefits of each, I finished awakening the other day and that was great. I'm hoping Fates won't fail to impress, but I'm curious as to whether they're different or the exact same. :P

Fire Emblem Fates: Special Edition. I'd you have CFW, check that iso site.
Thanks, I was planning on just installing the two CIAs and trying them both out, Conquest sounds better than Birthright from what I can gather, Birthright is more of the newer format of playing, which is okay but wouldn't be my first choice.

There's nothing to choose from, since they complement each other and you really should play all 3 (Revelation too) for the plot. Even the small talks between two same chars is different in each games.
I personally suggest going for Birthright first since it has free maps to farm for money and hence the game is considered easier. You need to get used to the chars and skills first before trying the harder one (Conquest).

Thanks, this helps a lot. It clears a lot up,

It doesn't matter what order you play Birthright or Conquest in storywise, but you should play both before you play Revelations to avoid spoilers. I really enjoyed all 3. I think Fates is a lot better than Awakening, and Awakening is a masterpiece.

Same. I'm on the hunt for similar games and basically any great games.

I bet you have Fire Emblem: Awakening.

I haven't played them, but the Advance Wars series is similar, just with tanks and soldiers instead of the Fire Emblem characters. They are made by the same company, too.
