FF7 remake being released as a "Multi part series"
This may come as a blow to fans if this means the whole story of VII won't be available immediately. The announcement has yet to be properly clarifled.

SE seems to be pretty close to finishing FFXV. They recently said that the game's playable from beginning to end, so I would imagine it's mostly polishing from here on out.I just read a status on Facebook since this news is trending there. "A Multi-part version of the game would likely be incredibly tight with each portion and being able to fix the bullshit the original had including the easily exploitable materia system."
My opinion on this reasoning, it kinda makes sense, but I'm still skeptical because of how vague it seemed reading it. I've never played any of CyberConnect2's games so I don't know how good they are, but having them develop it would take a LOT of pressure off of Square to focus on FFXV and KHIII.
My toss on a release date? Part 1 could possibly be out by the 20th anniversary. January 31st, 2017.

Thing is, when has Square cared about how long it took them to make games? Yes they have to build this game from the ground up and no doubt it's going to be big. But they could have just waited until it was finished and release it all at once (maybe as multiple discs if the PS4 discs really can't handle the size).Bound to happen when a refresh of this magnetude is taking place. I've never seen a remake be this intense, upgrade graphics, battle system, new scenes. I'm sure there's more to it than just a remake now.

Or they could, you know, not announce their games so damn early all the time. Buuuut this will be what makes them the most money so I guess it doesn't matter now.
Wouldn't announcing FFVII:R so early actually reduce profits? I mean, they recently released an upscaled version for the PS4, but I would imagine that a lot of people aren't going to buy it because they figure they should just wait for the remake. From a business perspective, gotta cash in when you can >: )

But less people would buy it if they knew that a remake was coming.Reduce what profits? It doesn't cost them nothing to upscale to 1080p, an example are blu-ray versions of old movies as well as older classics being upscaled. Costs nothing, no manpower or just a few clicks.
Definitely not a remake anymore at this point, but a brand new series set in the same universe. The scale of this project has definitely grown from a simple remake. I have higher hopes now than I did before.Bound to happen when a refresh of this magnetude is taking place. I've never seen a remake be this intense, upgrade graphics, battle system, new scenes. But IX is seriously awesome. I have a lot of nostalgia with that one. My brother and I bonded over it.Fanatics...there everywhere. If I had a PS4 I'd still get it, FF lover for life, only up to FF8 though. Afterwards I fell off of the series.
Honestly, I've recently come to accept a multi-episode FF7:R, assuming each episode has a good chunk of content, and is price reasonably for the aforementioned amount of content. However, since I love to play the devil's advocate...I want to note a few things here:
No one's complaining about the possibility of FF7:R using multiple discs, especially since the original already did... What people are complaining about is the fact that the game is being split up into an unknown amount of parts each containing an unknown amount of content/playtime being spread out over an unknown amount of time with an unknown cost. Each of those unknowns can vary wildly, and people are hesitant to get excited about something when they don't know the full details. I promise you, the amount of outrage will go down with each appropriately addressed unknown. If you guys think that they're seriously going to fit the entirety of FF7, especially with modern graphics for a game into the equivalent of 1 game/Disc and have it done anytime soon
