Sorry for the bump too! But cant EDuke32 Wii run Powerslave? AFAIK it runs on a slighty earlier Duke 3D Engine!

Thanks in advance!!

Is there really not a SINGLE person that has tried to get eduke32 running on vwii other than me? Can someone please at least test this to see if they have the same issue... ( ._.) I'd really appreciate it, thank you

Wii forwarders don't work on vWii. Does the game launch from the Homebrew Channel? You could probably modify the USB Loader GX vWii forwarder to load EDuke32 instead and replace the dol in one of the game forwarders.

Lol. first of all, of course i know wii forwarders dont work in vwii mode. however, i have managed to get every single one i use on my wii to work in vwii mode simply by converting/making new ones etc. I should have mentioned that. This is the ONLY thing i could not get to work via forwarder. Yes it launches from hbc just fine. And i already tried putting its dol into other known working forwarders as well as making new forwarders from scratch. I have tried everything i can think of man... it should be able to launch from a forwarder just fine, i just dont know what im doing wrong. If you have experience making forwarders, please try it out. I have to assume i am just somehow doing something wrong.

Do you know if the source for any of the EDuke32 forwarders is available? The link you posted is just the WAD files. I can try to make something out of one of them.

Nah I dont have access to the source anymore, and havent talked to that jimi guy in a few years. CustomizeMii 3.11 should let you extract it for the most part though.

Sorry, I lost track of the post. I replaced the bootloaders with FIX94's vWii code but everything else was untouched.

oh i only just saw your reply.....DUDE... i dont know what you did differently than me, but those worked!!! i cant believe it... i have no idea what i was doing wrong. All the other fowarders i made using fix94's vwii code worked just fine. *head explodes* thank you so much man! Im gonna contact Hendricks to let him know. Your zip should be added to the wiibrew wiki. Thanks again man, this shit was driving me nuts :)

I just used ShowMiiWads to extract them to a folder and replaced the IPL (00000001.app) with FIX94's vWii one.
ah, i always use customizemii 3.11 for wad editing/creating. i used fixes ipl on all my other vwii wads and it worked fine. dunno what kept going wrong with that specific forwarder, im just glad its working now, i dont wanna think about it anymore lol. thanks again :D

Hey, thanks, the game runs great, couple questions, is it possible to save the game and also save new control settings? and is there a way to activate the wiimote aiming only when pressing a button, like in Quake RevPAK? Thanks in advance

I was having some problems with save settings in the latest build which is buggy (r4821), so I used version r4103 and everything is perfect.
I can't remember if wiimote aiming is possible, but I personally find that the best controls for Duke32 are with the Classic Cotroller (d-pad for walking/strafing and right analogue stick for looking around). Analogue controls for walking are very inaccurate in games that were designed for digital controls (PC keyboard). Even walking in a straight line is a big problem using the nunchuck or the CC left analogue stick.
If you're using wiiflow, I made a Duke32 plugin to play the main game and the 3 official add-ons, with pre-configured control mappings for CC, freepats soundfont and full 3D covers. Very easy noob-proof installation.
If you're interested you can find it following the link in my sign.

That's a great all in one pack! I've only downloaded it today.

Hey, thanks for helping out with this. I've added these loaders to Dukeworld, and updated our WiiBrew page.
Anyone tried or maybe knows if i could use this Wii port to run Ion Maiden/Ion Fury? I've read that it can be ran on linux with the same EDuke32 engine.

Thanks @niuus
I never tried that game, but the wii version is very old, I don't know if it will work.
Cool, maybe it would be a matter of updating the build. I started using EDuke32 Wii today, so i don't know much about it. I guess i'll ask the game as a gift anyway, it could possibly run someday in the future. I could also try it on the EDuke32 port for Vita.

I'm not familiar with that game, but if it does have the same exact engine with no updated feature, maybe there's a chance it could work.
However, an updated Eduke32 for wii would be awesome, even if Duke Nukem 3D is already perfect with version r4103 that my plugin is based on.
In fact, as I said before, the latest version had a save bug and introduced no new feature, except for some initial support for IR controls.
Classic controller is far better for that kind of "false 3D" games IMHO.

AFAIK, it's Build engine 100%.

Yeah, i concur.

I downgraded to 4103, following your tip.

Maybe the Ion Fury GRP checksum needs to be added to the eduke32 wii for it to be recognized as the base game.

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)

yes looks like an faulty sd

@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
